Good morning ! Oops, missed that by a bit. Up at 4 and off to a field trial today. Small class, but the girls did well and won a 1st and 4th for themselves.
Good morning chicken wranglers,
Congratulations sour , I'm pleased that your hounds are champions.
I had to get up early and go to work also. I have been at it since 5;00 am and will not be done for an hour or so. That is the penance for owning your own business there is no one to blame when things are not getting done and no one to whine to , except your pals on the byc.
Can I get an Amen!
God Bless!
Morning people,
Warm spell moving in, a balmy 40 today with rain. Then back to freezing temps. I wonder what ice we'll have after wards?
@sourland - Hats off to you and your hounds. Did you give them a extra treat?
@karl E lutz - I have learned a long time ago, I own the business, it doesn't own me, but it's like a marriage "what you put into it, is what you get out of it". When push comes to shove tho, I am married to my better half, not the business. It seems like there is always one more thing the just has to be done....... I know what you mean. The ...... stops with you.
No special treats, Kaj, for 'working' dogs they are spoiled as it is. I had considered going back to the field trial today with my males, but they were predicting freezing rain. They were right - glad that I listened.
Awake but not up, shoulder hurting. It's not easy when you're older.
@ Sourland, Congrats on the trials, though I've no idea what they are. The Sporting show is here this weekend I believe. There was an editorial in today's paper complaining of the sponsored hunting of foxes. Folks tend to want things both ways. No foxes eating their cats and rabbits, but no killing of foxes. There has to be a balance I believe. I wish someone would come and chase the ones here to another area. I see their foot prints around. I wish they could climb trees and eat the squirrels.
@ business owners, I laugh when I pull into a shop to find them closed on a Monday or such. "Breakfast and Lunch" served. ? Then see another closing. Well lord have mercy, how do folks think they're going to compete.
One such place I actually talked to about a job as a cook. I didn't pursue it. I've no doubt I could turn out a better breakfast than the one I was served. They had a shingle out looking for a cook. I could tell they'd have been hard to work for and they did have the shingle out a few times. When you see them always hiring you gotta figure something is wrong.
Anyhow, life goes on. Warm weather today. 30's. Now I was thinking when out last evening that it may be a dry summer if we don't get much snow. I don't think we've had 3 feet so far. Other places have had much more.
Morning. well afternoon, Up early to take DW to Pre-OP session /will be having a total knee done next Tuesday. Oh! the Joy of it all. Next week will pack a breakfast. Got 8 eggs yesterday 8 for 8 not bad. At least I know all 8 are working. With only getting 5,6-7 eggs a day makes you wonder if someone is in for a free ride. Now I know they are just doing it in rotation.
Re: your own business. I swore for years I was taking my B-day off. Then became my own boss and never had B-day since.
and of course your rich if you own your own business. Right. Don't get me started.
Well now I've learned not to worry about what others earn. Though I reckon I oughta pray I'd have as much as others think I have. THEN I'd be rich. I cringe when folks talk about "Oh they've got this much and he/she makes good money and, and, and. I do thank the Lord cuz he knows. We've got it pretty good compared to many.
There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hathgreat riches.
Point? Howard Hughes was a supposed rich man but died insane. Some may have less than what they think is considered rich, but have things money can't buy, like a good marriage, sincere friends and family. Oh and chickens.
Morning people,
It been feeling like spring here the last couple of days. We went for a walk in the woods yesterday, nice and simple. Elevation gain was maybe 500'. We were no where were we wanted to be. We had to wear spikes all day long, a lot of ice patches.
@rngrbill - Best of luck to your better half with the up coming operation. We'll be thinking of her.
Personally, I don't worship the green back, but then again I am not a "fool soon to part from his money".
