Coffee's ready...

Good morning! Chase and Sanborn is brewing, everyone is welcome to a cup!

Last night we went to the auction and came home with 10 packages of English muffins, a few chicks, and a full-sized working slot machine! Too funny. DH set up the slot machine on our kitchen counter and the kids were playing with it for a little while but thankfully the novelty wore off already (I think).

I had a fabulous hatch yesterday, which I cannot believe! 9 chicks hatched overnight, and in the morning I had to assist 2 more out because as usual the humidity dropped. Next hatch 2 sponges are going in. I never had more than 3 chicks hatch, so 11 for me is astounding!

Scoop - I am thinking about homeschooling one of my children. Do you know anything about Cyber school?

I woke up with a stupid headache so I'm off to take some Ibuprofen. Today we're headed to Knoebel's Amusement Park, at least for a little while so this headache needs to go!!! I love Knoebels!

Hope everyone has a great day! Enjoy!

Hi everyone. Almost too hot for coffee today. It was like 74 when I got up today. Believe me, I aint complaining!

Laura, it sounds like you'll be breaking a record soon for total number of chickens! Woo-hoo!

We've got a broody hen again and are putting 12 assorted eggs under her. When I put some under her she couldn't wait to get them in place!

Hey Sissy, that's funny what you said about my DS being the next Jay Leno. That's what my DD said too! He is just like Jay Leno with his joke telling.

Laura, I'll PM you about homeschooling.

Take care all and enjoy the rest of the day!

Morning all! Well, I skipped the coffee today and had hot chocolate. It's dreary and dark here right now.

Sissy, I hope you aren't stranded at your house with all that flooding in TN. The flooding your state has now is what we experienced in 2006. We had over 16" of rain in like a day. So many houses got devastated even if they weren't close to the river. I know of one neighborhood where each and every house lost everything in the basements and first floors. They had to hurry up and bust out the drywall and get rid of the contents so that mold wouldn't overtake the house. That area also reaked of fuel oil for a long time because of all the oil tanks that were involved in it. It's just a terrible situation. I've heard there are still houses in that area that have not been rebuilt on the inside.

Sissy, that's really weird about your hen eating the eggs. Maybe she was just getting bored with her regular food!

I've come out to the coop already and will find eggs that have been eaten. It never makes sense when they have a ton of food available to them.

Well, on a brighter note, my broody is still on the job. Should be an interesting hatch, just hope that our hen can take care of them because I don't want to bring them in the house since it's warm out.

Well, gotta go and dry my hair! Have a good one everybody!

Hi Scoop well we have mud but noting too bad.
We did see homes and cars floating in other places.

our home sits on a bit of a hill. But the back hills
are higher so we do get some mess but this time
I have the coops taken care of . so as not to get water .
you have a great day.

Good morning chicken wranglers
Scoop,Sissy,Good to here you are in good spirits. The weather in Tn. is looking not so good from what I can see in the paper anyway. And wow 74 in the morning! Not bad scoop. We have been consistantly cool here. I finally got the pasture fenced in out back. Now I can mow. I am going to plant more corn this week and put out the rest of the earlies. Nothing I have planted is sprouting yet,Too cool I think!
The guardian Goose is still on the job, I'll try and post a pic of her this week.

Hello, friends! I know it's 5:00 PM, but I'm thinking of throwing on a cup of coffee. I haven't been on BYC too much lately, so I'm catching up here!

Scoop, thanks for your PM. I have a lot to think about!

Sissy, sorry to hear about your egg loving hen. That's really disappointing to hear, and I'm sure it's really frustrating for you!

Karl, glad to hear guardian goose is still on duty!

Not much else going on here. Oh, Scoop, 3 chicks found a home with one of my co-workers! The little cuties sat on my desk all day. The funny thing is that we bought fried chicken at Walmart, and I liked the container. So I brought the chicks in to work in a fried chicken box. It actually worked pretty well, so I might ask them if they sell just the boxes. Hey, it's worth a try, although it is a bit unusual. One of the chicks kept trying to jump out of the box. I had holes poked in the side for air and had the top closed. Well you can imagine the looks I got when people heard peeping coming from a fried chicken box! I am going to one of my other co-workers houses to see where she can put a chicken coop. It's funny, only a few months ago she thought chickens were "gross".

Hope everyone has a good evening!!!

Just checking in with my coffee drinking friends! Chase and Sanborn is brewing, so everyone come and enjoy a cup! I'm thinking of making some chili this afternoon, so if anybody's hungry, come on over and enjoy some!

I'd love to find a place out in the country and let my chickies run around, maybe down the road... We live on a highway and there's currently an expansion project starting. They have our sidewalks all spray painted up where they want to start drilling next week during the night. We might lose our home to eminent domain, or we may "just" lose our sidewalk - making the 2 lane highway just feet from my front porch. So... if they need to take our house I'll cry, but then we're moving to the country. If they just take part of our property, we're thinking of buying some land in Tennessee to eventually build a house on and raise our own meat and have a much larger garden, our semi-version of homesteading. But, it's in the Lord's hands.

I hope everyone is having a blessed and productive day!

its a pretty but wet morning here in tennessee..we workin on cleaning up the flood mess...from this past weekend...they say rain is moving n on us this weeked 2..idkif we will ever get everything clean back up
