Coffee's ready...

Good Morning! Glad to hear the heifer is doing better, Karl. What do you feed your chickens? I've been wondering if there is a cheaper, more natural alternative to the Purina crumbles. Kaj- that sounds too cold for me to camp, too! 35 is about as cold as I can stand it for camping - and that is using the camper van with a little space heater in it!
Oesdog - yes, they can be both - there is a thread on here about that - some are one gender on one side and one on the other!
Well, I just have to rant. You can ignore it - it might get long. I mentioned a few months about about my son continuing to wet himself. I finally made an appointment with his pedicatrician, who was great. Said it sounded like a muscular thing, not a behavioral thing, and refered me to a pedicatric urologist. His teacher had told me she needs us to get it under control over winter break - he's in danger of getting kicked out of pre-school if we don't, basically.
So I went to this fancy urologist and he treated me like a hysterical, over-reactive mother who doesn't have the patience for potty-training. I'm so upset. The first thing he did was ask me if it was my idea or my doctor's idea to see him! I said, "his doctor"! He barely asked any questions - like, when does it happen, how frequent, ect. Nothing! I kept interjecting stuff, like the fact that I never even see him do the "pee pee dance" because he never seems to know he needs to go! He talked about constipation several times, despite my assurance that it is NOT an issue. Then when he left he had his nurse come in to tell me about high-fiber diets for kids!!

To top it all off - he asked if my son is an only child. What the (&*(^& does that have to do with the fact that he has no control over his bladder muscle!? So the kicker - this appointment cost $650 of the money alloted to me toward the deductable for my insurance (the school system insurance is weird - it's not out of my own pocket, but if I use up what they give me, then I have to start paying high co-pays). He at least did an ultrasound (for 2 minutes) and said his kidneys and bladder look normal.

So the appointment was pretty much useless, and the regular pedicatrician was far more helpful.

So I don't know what to tell his teacher, but the pediatrician gave me a note to tell them to let him wear pull-ups for now, and the urologist gave me one for him to go to the bathroom every two hours. Except that even if he does use the bathroom, sometimes he wets himself 20 mintues later, so again, useless......

Anyway, I'm going to finish puttin my Christmas stuff away and cleaning my house. Start the new year off fresh and organized!! Have a good day, chicken wranglers!

Wow chics. That's terrible. I hate when professionals treat you that way. I would complain about it to the clinic. That's just inexcusable.

Hope everyone has a great New Years!

See another urologist. . . . This one was clearly NOT Listening to you and therefore would not be able to diagnosis his way out of the commode - - -- Tell you pediatrician about your experience and see if they can recommend another specialist . . .. The pediatrician needs to know what a LAME doctor the urologist was . . ..

They were so loud in the night - really loud.

Anyhow we decided that we would have to cull. - Well DH loves Big Red and wanted so much to keep him.
But we live so close to other houses its just not fare.

Anyhow DH went out and came home saying he got them a home!!!!!!! So its not all bad news. They are living down the road with a fellow who needs roos as he has none.
We kept the two brothers together BLUE and Omlet are still here. - he said he would take them too but the other two boys fight with them. So they have to go someplace else also I didn;t want to give 4 roos to one man with a small amount of Hens. I worry about them being killed or them being used for cock fighting.

DH said he felt it was better than us killing them.
I am in two minds of course. - Feel a bitter failure in the grow your own food brigade! But I think I woudl be more upset and I doubt if I could have eaten them anyhow.

Oesdog -

Oesdog - So sorry to hear that. At least you know where they went, and that they are living a good life with their harem, now. Hang in there, and get yourself a few more hens.
Math Ace - I definately plan on telling my pediatrician about him, but the problem with seeing a different one is the price tag. I'll have to see what my co-pay would be after I use up the deductible. The funny thing is, he actually had a fairly nice demeanor. I don't even think he realized the message he was sending me, and how little he was listening - and how unhelpful he was being. It's my job to diagnose, too - I just do behavior and social environments- and mental disorders if it's called for- and if I worked like he did I'd be terrible at my job!
Anyway, I'm going to have a nice relaxing New Years, and hope you all do the same. I've started off with a Mimosa, as we only drank a glass each of the champagine last night. All the best in the new year to all of you!

good morning chicken wranglers
Hope you all had an excellent weekend and fantastic begining for anew year!Oesdog you have a good heart.I'd have butchered and ate the roo if he wasn't too old.
Are all of you still in recovery mode from celebrating? I myself was fast asleep by 7;00 pm and didn't wake up till thre new year was old!
God Bless!

Good morning, peeps.

I understand Oesdog. I'm pretty sure that, if I am going to grow roos for meat, I'll have to do it en masse with no names. I guess I'm a big softie too... we'll see. Luckily, I've been able to find someone who actually *wants* the one for-sure roo we've got. The other maybe-roo, we're waiting until first crow/egg to decide. Then we'll see.

I've got a really stressful day ahead. First day back to school for DS, then drop off the car to get repairwork done (had a little mishap at the gas station - crunch) and then pick up DS early from school to go to court over a lighter. Ugh. He's 17 and had a lighter in his pocket. Why? Because he lights the BBQ for me! But, he got arrested at school for having "smoking paraphernalia" and is going to court this afternoon.

Anyways, it's time to go get dressed. Later!

Good morning!
Annaraven - sometimes that "zero tolerance" thing is - well - intolerant.....
I made it till midnight, but just had a relaxing night at home. Watched some movies I've been wanting to see, then did nothing but watch another one, sit outside with my son and the chickens, and read on New Years day. It was great. Yesterday I hiked between 6 and 7 miles, but most of it was sand. Now my left knee is really hurting. I'm hobbling around like an old woman today. But it was a really nice hike.

Busy day today for me, too, with it being my first day back after a long break. Lots to do, lots to do! Gotta go - have a good one.
