Hello, chicken peeps. I've been working on my new coop for inside the aviary all morning. My arms are sore and it's time for my son to take a rest, so back inside to cool off for now. My saw is not the greatest so it takes a bit of muscle to get through 2 x 4's - and I even did two 4 x 4's today. Whew.....

Here is the chick that hatched with curled up toes. Can you see how appreciative she is of her theraputic shoes I put on her?:

Anyway, you reminded me to brew some ice tea, Sissy - thanks! And relax and enjoy, Rancher - time alone is precious around here.

Have a good day. Time for me to rest on the couch with a glass of cold water for a bit. A least it's somewhat cloudy and not quite so hot today.

Well we're back. Went for a long drive to Cooperstown, NY and stopped along the way. For those who don't know, Cooperstown is supposed to be the place where baseball was invented. Lots of sports stuff but also a college town and some other shops. The whole drive was country and all that. Through little villages and nice. There is also Madison which is the antique capital I guess. All kinds of antique shops and what not. It has yearly antique fest of sorts.

We walked around and I did find two books. One on Revival lectures by Charles Finney at the public library sale. Also a new childrens chicken book. "Chicken Joy on Redbean Road". I haven't mentioned my other new Childrens chicken book "Interrupting Chicken", that I found in Texas.

I like to give each of my children a new childrens book for Christmas each year. Sometimes they turn out good. Like the one I had stored away for my DD kate. It was about a cat named Violet. She didn't know I had bought the book ahead of time as is my thing. Well they got a new kitten and unknown to me was that her husband named her Violet. Can you believe it? Well you should cuz it is 100% true. That was last year.

It was a nice day and scenic.

Our final stop was for dinner at the Copper Turret restaurant in Morrisville an agricultural college town. I had the Pot roast with mashed taters and veggies (beans and garlic scapes and onions) which was very good. $50 for the two of us. DW had a pasta dish which she said was good too.

So that was the day, what did you'all else do or are doing for the holiday weekend?

Oesdog - this is our independence day weekend. The fourth of July. There will be parades and fireworks and celebrating.

Chics - he looks like that Penguin in "Happy Feet". I hope it works.

take care

Rancher

Morning People,
Just what we need today, more rain.........

Chcks: Nice shoes on your chick. I can sort of sympathize with it. When I can, barefoot for me.

Rancher: 1 more graduation party today. I have been working in the shop until the time for the parties. We found a lake a little over 1/4 mile from the beaten path the other day. So on Monday, we'll bring the canoe and paddle around it. No house etc on the lake. Maybe some fishing, but most likely a picnic there.
I haven't been in Cooperstown in over 20 years. I should put that on a list of things to do.

Enjoy the day

Good morning BYC! It's a nice morning here so far, not hot yet. It'll be the typical day off stuff for me today~grocery shopping, cleaning, bathing dogs, etc. The laundry is already going and I want to do a little yard clean up too before it gets too hot.

quercus21, I hope the rain stops for you today. Enjoy the lake paddle tomorrow and I hope you catch some "keepers" for the frying pan.

rancher hicks, that's a great tradition you have going with the books. I do the same with a Christmas ornie for my niece and she actually said a couple years ago that she loves "our tradition".

chics in the sun, I too can relate to the poor little chickie. I can't do barefoot due to plantar fasciatis (sp??) anymore. I miss feeling ground on my feet! I hope the "shoes" help her.

I hope everyone wakes to sunshiney skies and has an easy day.

Good Morning All!!

Que -- where you located? The have a show for Pollock at the Fennamore Cooper estate and of course some changes at the Farmer Museum. Maybe we can set up a meeting there. We could have lunch.

Chickens feathers everywhere, These girls are molting, which is why I'm not getting any eggs and I really need them. I have customers. I got 4 eggs yesterday. 4!

Anyone here grow strawberries? They weren't good here this year so I thought of clearing some more space and growing my own. Rasberries too. Need to know how many to grow for one jar of jam.

Well everyone take care and be careful for the rest of the holiday. Your important to me.
