Coffee's ready...

Oesdog - I do know that over here we have interstate laws but that they are not a high priority and not enforced. According to Kate she ships to other countries. I'd really like to get some Red Dorkings and of course Legbars. It seems to me that if eggs were ok then they wouldn't be so hard to get here. Unless she's not aware of the laws. Also other countries have their own laws and the U. S. can be a pain when it comes to these things.

Well I wouldn;t want to get myself into bother and all. I lost my darling Blue legbar Rooster so I would be buying and sending them on to you anyhow. I wouldn;t know if it would work or anything like. I wish I had my boy back!

According from what I can understand hatching eggs from the UK, Ireland and others are not required to be quarantined. There is veterinarian documentation that must be obtained. I don't know the cost of getting it though. Perhaps you can find out and it may be affordable to me.

Poultry hatching eggs imported from countries designated as free of END

The following countries are considered by the USDA to be free of exotic Newcastle disease: Australia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Denmark, Fiji, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man), Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Hatching eggs imported from these countries are not required to be quarantined. However, the hatching eggs must be accompanied by a veterinary health certificate issued by a national government veterinarian of the exporting country as well as by a USDA import permit (see exception for Canada below).

It seems to me that with the popularity of poultry at this time there may be $$$ to be had in importing eggs to the U.S and other countries. Considering the economy it might not be a bad thing to get into.

Good morning chicken wranglers'
Rancher and oesdog it seems you 2 mightr have an Idea,How could you get the eggs safely from there to here? Careful packaging and UPS red overnight might be the answer.I've had things shipped from Ireland and Scottland but never tried overnight you mIght look into it!
I'd not mowed since june 5 so I got an early start Sat and mowed from 7 until 4. I still need to detail around the pond since we had the work done on it it is holding water nicely. The ducks and geese are happy.
Big schools of little catfish are boiling the surface in the late evening, and all looks good.Hopefully I will take some out of the pond for dinner this summmer.I won't let anyone keep the bass yet as it takes a couple of years for them to get a good population going but this is the third year for the cats and dinnner is on the agenda.
Chicks, rancher oesdog and math good DAY GOD BLESS!

The pond is one thing we didn't quite get to this weekend. Hopefully we will when BF gets back from work today - it is pretty gross and stinky. The pond store had $350 worth of more stuff we could do to keep it clean and I said NO WAY am I spending that much more on a 235 gallon duck pond! We bought stuff to put in the water that should be safe for the ducks, and BF is going to build a waterfall type thing to help it filter. These $14 ducks - that aren't even that friendly - have turned out to be a lot of work (and cash)!

You won't believe what happened yesterday. Someone stole my wallet - AT CHURCH!!

Of all the nerve!

Wasn't he afraid a bolt of lightning would stike down on him when he lifted it out of my purse? I had set it in the nursery, then my son and BF's youngest decided they would rather sit at the tables in the coffee area, so we went out there - just across a small hallway. I kind of forgot to get it out of the nursery, but the door was open and I was only sitting 6 feet away! So I spent two hours yesterday calling all my credit card and bank card companies. Now I am worried about ID theft, but I did report it stolen. I've got a few more calls to make to replace things today. Gotta get busy.

Have a great day, chicken folks.

Karl - I received and e-mail from someone in the UK wanting Del eggs. Now I can't say for sure this is legit but they said they've been inspected so they don't need a permit. Which would be correct they just need a Veterinarian statement that things are fine.

Chics - I am sorry about your wallet. One wouldn't expect such things in church. I'd definitely talk to the pastor. We've been warned to lock our cars during church as things have come up missing. Most likely it was a kid. I always say Church is a Hospital for sinners.

well take care folks lets see if I can get something done today.

Sorry about your purse,I always scold my wife about locking the car door in the church parking lot,Now I stand corrected!

Our church had a STRANGER come in and try to steal during a pot luck luncheon....
He just came in amongst all the activity and tried to steal the church's collection plate monies...

BAD, BAD, BAD..... It takes a lot of nerve and lack of fear to steal from God's place!

I know! I go to a small church downtown - lets just say it attracts folks from the entire spectrum of humanity - which is actually one of the reasons I like it. My father works there part-time, too, and they do a lot of community outreach. There was a man wandering around during coffee hour that nobody recognized, so we're pretty sure it was him. He was wandering around that hallway where the nursery is, as well as the restrooms, so nobody would have thought much about him coming from that area. I think I've ordered all the new cards I needed to replace and cancelled a signed check I had in the wallet that was made out to Home Depot (they sure do get a lot of my money!)

Well, I've come to a difficulty decision. I think it may be best to cull that chick with the curled up toes. I think it's more than the toes - it can't seem to straighten it's legs up under itself at all. It sort of scoots around on it's haunches, and at the joint there are large calouses forming. I'm afraid it's in pain, and it peeps constantly. If anyone has had to do this, please send me a PM and let me know what worked best/ easiest. Don't want to bring folks down on our happy coffee thread, but I could use some pointers/ support.

BF drained and re-filled the pond and we have some happy, happy ducks! They are splahing around like crazy, then hopping out and running around the aviary flapping their wings.

It's too cute.
