Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers
Q I love sashimi and soushi,Not fish bait to me,I spent 6 mos. working with thwe jaqpanese in the sugar mill in Hi.and they had the greatest food.
Rancher I put in an insulated coop last year and did not use it,my birds that stayed out in the weather did better than the ones that were cooped up.I read an old farmers report on deep litter and he said not to close the windows on the coop in the winter.
The coons decimated my flock while I was gone.I am down so many chickens it is hard to believe.Maybe it was the owl because I can't find any carcasses.Guess it is time to order chicks I hate brooding in the winter so messy and stinky maybe the insulated coop will come in handy! Good day God bless!

Karl - sorry to hear of your trouble. I'm worried too here about coons. Especially since the new hoop coop is outside the fenced in area and farther away from the house. I still hold by my deterrent method of marking my territory and so far so good.

Now if you're going to hatch I can send you some Del eggs. They're doing pretty good, though this is the first spring laying for most of them. The size picks up real fast with these girls. They mature quickly too. It's too bad the Orps aren't older. I've got some really nice ones. I do hope your rocks are doing good cuz I'm looking forward to trying them again next spring. If all goes well I should have a second hoop coop up next year.

Well take care the queen is unhappy and I've got to take her outside.

Ta, ta for now

Morning Folks!
Sorry about yesterday - I was out of my head.
Rancher; Why not use multiple tarps? It's been my experience that the ice will get in with the bedding and make it almost impossible to get out unless you get down on your hands and knees with a hammer! I'v been there and don't want to go back! This year I'm putting multiple tarps down. I figure that if I spend 40 dollars on more tarps but save my arthritic joints I'm way ahead! My plan is to put down a tarp, toss some hay in al ight layer down then another tarp. Repeat as nesc, then fold down the edges so no water can get inbetween, then when it's too dirty to leave it but too cold to clean it, I will just go pull another tarp off!
Hope that helps you, Rancher.
Have a great day!

Hello, folks. I'm at my new desk in my new school, trying to get situated before the kids come back. The room was a wreck, and I finally have it almost to my liking. The other staff here seem nice, but there will be a lot of things I have to learn at this new position.

Karl - so sorry to hear about your flock.

Well, only a few minutes to check in. Have a good one.

Good Morning Every one! It's a double coffe day as I fecided to clean out bonus room because of possible rain Saturday for our event. I thought some might like to camp-in instead of camp-out. I was up until 1:30 and it's still not ready! Makes for a very early rooster crow.

Oesdog is having a bad time - send her your love and encouragement. she needs it.

Morning People,
The only rain, it seems we get here are down pours. Not much is soaking in, just run off. The stream fills up, couple of days later, it's low again.

ParadiseFoundFarm: Good luck with your get together this weekend.

It was goooooooooood. I can never really get enough. The only way I really like tuna. I can remember the first time the better half had wasubie (sp). Poor kid, it wasn't pretty.

Enjoy your day.

Morning folks,

Just a quick note today. Lots to do such as getting the garden ready for winter and planting some fall crops like garlic. Hope to plant more than last year and better varieties.

Take care, mile to go before I sleep.
