Morning people,
I hope this finds everyone doing well and getting ready for the holiday. One more week till vacation. I don't know if you can really call it that. We are spending a couple of days at the little rats house to help with a "few" things.
I have a pot of plum tomatoes cooking on the stove. I am going to make that peppery calamari sauce. I forget what's it's name is. Tomorrow's supper.
Chance of rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days.

Here was my latest little project, a chicken wagon.... hope you like it! I'm enjoying the three day holiday, it gives me a chance to get a lot of things done. Finished a piece I was working on, cut up a tree that fell in a storm, went to a fish fry and built this wagon and played with the chickies.

Good morning chicken wranglers
how was the weekend?I worked on the basement light switches.Putting covers on the the buggers.I know it should have been easy,but the walls are all log siding and the switches and receptacle all Had to be shimmed out to the height of the logs and then I had to make the covers from wood and stain them.To keep with the all wood theme.
The garden and barn work were all put on hold until the rain is over.
Well I close on the new 10 acres Thursday.I hope it goes well.The old folks that own it have been Good neighbors and we will miss them.They cannot take care of the place and are moving closer to family up by Chicago.I believe it is a assisted living village with a lake and all.Sounds nice for them.

Rngr I will post pics of the basement after the mess is cleaned up! I hope to do the fireplace soon! Wish I had a fireplace like gargoyle's.I don't have the resources to carve stone ,"or the cash to commission it!"I will make due!We close on the 10 acres and house today,and the refinancing is giving my darling wife heartburn!

I am up to my eyes trying to get sorted to go away next week and well everything is getting too much right now. I am trying to keep up with everyone. I will get pics and post them when I get home!

Closed on the property.Looks good I will post pics soon.I need to get a dozer to clear fence rows of brush rebuild fence and put in a hog lot this spring"maybe"!

So how do you convince the chickens to get into the box?

I started picking them up when they we first got them; I make it a point to pick up every one at least once a day, so they are used to it. They'll usually take two or three steps away from me in a little attempt at avoidance, and then they stand still and let me pick them up. I massage their legs and crop, hold them a little, and carefully set them down.

Result is it's pretty easy to pick them up and put them in the box.
