Brenda, scrambled, or boiled mashed eggs are great for chicks, lot of protein and the love it.

I don't cater quite so much to our hens, but I do when it dips to freezing which is not often here in South coastal BC (pacific north west).
I make a bucket of 22% unmedicated starter crumbles mixed with enought straight hot tap water to have 1 inch of water over the feed and let it sit for 15 or so minutes to absorb the water. I take this out with a bucket of hot water cause their automatic waterer and hoses are frozen up. The chickens think they are getting tea and oatmeal for brekkie. I often take out hot water in the evening too just before bedtime. They love it!

Thanks Donna, no one told me I could do this and they would not go off lay. Being a city small farm girl (chickens, vegies and fruit) I didn't even think to ask. Children and I are making popcorn for the girls thismorning before we head off to start our day.
