Collecting Cool Rocks! Minerals, Crystals, Fossils, Geodes, etc.

I have a whole rock collection! Here is one I think is cool. I found it at school one day.

Those show up in the gravel here all the time. I just looked at one that is practically identical today.

Those bags of gravel sometimes have treasure in them! A guy in one of the rock groups I'm in found actual gold in a parking lot.

I just finished up a batch of Fire Quartz. It took over 2 months! That stuff is hard! Fingers crossed the petrified wood doesn't give me so much trouble. lol

The problem with petrified wood is that it can fall apart.

Oh! I found a geode in my yard! It's small and there's not a ton of crystals, but it looks like pic 3 in post #1 of this thread.

I also have some pumice from the Azores Islands that I collected when I was there 2 years ago. It's so cool!

I've always been a rock collector, meaning I would pick rocks at recess, pick them out of the gravel etc. I got a rock tumbler for Christmas when I was a kid, and have always loved sparkly rocks lol. I don't really have any pictures of ones I've personally collected, but I bought a couple slabs this summer on my family trip to Utah. I was hoping there was a lapidary around me who could polish them, but there isn't. Someday I'll get them polished up.

This I think is Jasper. It looked like a scenic painting to me.

I LOVE scenic pieces! Landscapes, faces, hearts, those are some of my favorite pieces. Even when it's a face only a mother could love. Like this Kambaba Jasper.
