Just moved to the Firestone, Frederick, Dacono area. I need help with our HOA changing the allowances. Town allows 6 hens, HOA says Zero. I went to the hoa meeting Thursday night and they gave me a lot of work and running around to do. Basically it will take a lawyer, my gathering up 50 signatures, a newsletter, me doing a face to face presentation in November, and then maybe just maybe in the spring we can get some. Well, don't you just love politics. The HOA members interrupted me, started talking about how goats licked paint off of cars, and how I was NOT about to ask for goats, was I?!?!?! I just laughed. I went there to ask about CHICKENS. I'm being ageist - really? All white haired old people. My mother is their age and she doesn't act, speak, dress, nor respond like they do. I'm appalled. Anywhoooo. I'm super excited to learn about chickens. We have a good friend who has them on her farm down the road. I would love to use them as a whole unit of study for our homeschooling that we will begin. We have had friends who got chickens, loved them so much they encouraged the neighbors to get some, they got some, then the neighbors next to them got some as well! We are all friends, but lived down the road. We visited their chickens a helped collect eggs, ate the eggs, and petted their chickens frequently. What is your acreage? How many do you have?
