only 6 have hatched, a few are still tryingHey Chesterchook, how are the eggs/chicks doing?
No rain or snow here, yet.My old girls are New Hampshire then 2 Speckled Sussex then 7 Barred Rocks and one mutt. The new layers are from Mayah, her Maran crosses and this year's chickies are 2 BO, 1 SLW, 2 GLW, 2 EE, 1 Australorp that is not an Australorp (will have to see what it is later) and 3 Mutt babies. Mutt babies in the incubator are crosses from my BRs and NH with my Mutt Roo.
It is snowing here now. We have an inch on the ground so far. Hope you all are getting rain!

I have been trying to figure how to put a wireless security cam in my coop. I would call it the chicken cam. But I need another computer that would need to be on all the time. The monitor would be my flat screen TV using one of the inputs. There would be nothing quite like my own "CHICKEN CHANEL". I am just having a hard time finding an affordable wireless camera that would transmit 150 feet reliably. I could even check on the chickens while at work then. LOL Does this make me a chicken nerd???i got my 8x8 shed that we will turn into our new coop, hubby and i got it almost done this weekend but we got sunburned while wroking on it. I'll post pics later. we let the 9-10 weeks out in the yard with the adults and we had no problems with pecking or adgrestion. the adults did go after our cat when he got close the to younger ones. poor cat got pieck and hid in the hay. lol. once the coop is done we plane to have the flocks fully mixed. i am hoping the weather is nice and it does not snow but the forecase looks like rain for the rest of the week. the coop and mixing the flocks together might be on hold until the following week.
after the shed/coop is done I'll be posting our A-frame for sell if anyone is looking. it is 4'x6' and havey to move. (no wheels but will be cool to have them) i got pics of it on my page but we painted it with wood-sil and now its drown.
does any one have a cam in their coop?
Yay, so glad the chicks are in their new digs! Congrats, was a long road, but well worth it!Well, today was a big, big day here at the homestead. Chicks are in the new coop! We only got half the pens finished but by the time I get home tomorrow I suspect Bob will have the other two done. Still has to run power out there before I can move the rest of the chicks, they still need heat, and he was fretting and fretting over the 4 week olds being out there tonight when the temp drops so we hung a heat lamp about 3.5 feet above them just as insurance by running an extension cord in there. Soon they will all be in there and I can clean the crawl space.
In the incubator the Greathorse eggs are hatching, have a SLW hatched this morning, and I have 5 RIR eggs pipped, some all day, hopefully they will be out by morning. Last Friday and Saturday I hatched 4 Cochin eggs, too cute, and just set 13 Guinea eggs this evening - I was called for keets last week and no one has them, I guess it's early for them? So I ordered eggs. They take 28 days, so in 4 weeks I'll maybe have some Guinea keets.

Quote: Same here, I have a baby monitor too, I purchased 2 extra web cams (because the system can have 4 total) and have a camera in the coop, and one also in the run... this lets me check to see if the door is open or closed. Also installed a motion sensor light too. I love it because it is really obvious if something is near the coop on the monitor.
