We'll, heis eager to keep trying despite getting rolled by one of the hens. Not making a great impression with his possible future mate, though.

He's also really into pulling my hair out.

Question for all you Coloradan chicken lovers.....I have a bantam cochin rooster that will be 12 weeks old tomorrow. I already have a roo, so I cannot keep this Cochin. Any ideas on where or how to sell/give him a new home?

This is what happens if you leave the back door open...

Robilyn81 you kill me. That is so funny.

Couple weeks ago, I left the sliding glass door open and 2 of the girls wandered into the house, found me watching TV, and started clucking at me....continuously.

They wanted bread, I had forgotten to give it to them when I got home....they came looking for me.

That's the downside of keeping chickens....everyone wants hens, nobody wants Roos. We looked on Craigslist one time and found a home. Another time I found a co-worker when I was doing summer research.

Re-homing Roos can be a challenge.

That is so sweet!! When our first batch of girls started living outside instead of their brooder inside the house, they would come and peck at the glass door-saying they were ready for bed

Now they just sun bathe by the door as they listen to music and our voices!

Isn't it fun having a backyard flock of chickens?

I enjoy their different personalities. It's fun to just sit on the deck and watch their behaviors as they forage in the yard. I call them living lawn ornaments....

I love your hair color. Right now I have purple but I'm not brave enough to have it on top. It is all on the underside and back so it can easily be hidden. But it's fun to put my hair up in a way that it shows.

They tap on the glass of the sliding glass door when they want a treat.
That's so cute. I get very loud quacking at my back door that can quickly become not cute.

You can also try talking to someone at your local feed store. I got my chicks at Kiowa Country feed store. I'm on their email list and one email was about an animal swap/sale being held at the store. In the email it said that people were always looking for roosters and kittens. So the fed store people might know someone looking or might let you put up a flyer.
