Welcome DenverDucky!

KMatt, I am having a hard time visualizing the mass, but it sounds like something I've not seen before. Will await pictures.

samsr, definitely sounds like your Leghorn roo is king of the coop, like you I hope the two fellows manage to get along well enough to coexist until the new girls are a little older and your new area is finished. That is a good deal on HW cloth, that stuff is expensive, and working with it can be painful, I've scratched many an arm on it in the past!

Wendell, sorry I didn't pick up the brooder yesterday, I spaced needing to drive the pickup. Doh!

Plastic/brooding tube is setup. Just dialing the lamp heat in. 95.5° before, I moved the lamp to a hanging belt and raised it 4". Hopefully it's correct ahmed holds temp.
Chicks should be here tomorrow!

Just curious as to what size bulb you ended up with and where you got it.

Hi everyone! I'm not new to BYC, but I'd like to join in. I don't have chickens but I do have a pekin duck, named Soleil! I have to wait to get more land and then I will have my chickens :)

Welcome to CO BYC! All the really important talk goes on right here on this thread :)

Greathorse says he can have RIR eggs ready in a few days. I won't be able to make the trip up there for at least a week. He is in Berthoud. Eggs are $2.50 each. I don't want to have them shipped because of the impact it has on hatch rate. Anyone who is interested in eggs can let me know so I can let him know how many we want and when, and if someone wants to do the drive I'll pitch in for gas, I just know I can't get away while we are in the middle of getting this shed built. If someone wants chicks I will hatch extra. These will be nice, heritage style RIRs.

Good grief. my Pasty Butt Chick was much, much better this morning, possibly cured. But now another chick went all out pasty on me last night. Go figure... I cleaned her up quick to keep DS from finding anything 'interesting' to play with around the brooder or incubator but we will be having another bath time when nap time rolls around.

Its all good. I won't be home this afternoon, but someone will be. Or come tomorrow, I should be home most of the day. Just drive around to the west side and we can load them from there.

Would Monday be okay? Weather forecast is looking bad, and we are going to try and get the siding up and roof sheeted. We have an appointment with our insurance agent this morning, then plan to get to work. I was sorry we had made the appointment, but with the thermometer struggling to get to freezing still, we may as well get it out of the way.

Monday should be fine. I may not be home, but someone will be. Beth has a quick appointment at 4, and we should be home shortly afterwards.
