What breed of eggs did you get this time?

The hens the eggs came from are barred rock, RIR, california white and a buff cochin. They were all covered by my white leghorn. They should be mutts of some sort. I am anxious to see the chicks that hatch. Maybe this fall i will have some full blooded BO eggs to hatch out.

Yeah, he does look like a rooster. I have a silkie/marans that is about the same age with about the same size comb. The gals have one but not as pronounced as that. I'm not a marans breeder so perhaps you can also post there. To me, he looks like a roo.

Someone told me that if you pick a chick up by the back of the neck, like a cat does to a kitten, that if they go limp its a pullet and if they fight its a roo. Has anyone else heard this?

I have heard of it. I have also heard it is about as accurate as dangling a needle over a pregnant woman's hand to determine baby's gender.

Mine are about 1 week younger than yours. I hope I don't have any roosters!
