Well if Windy Ranch was having a better year.... I got mine from Elizabeth Country Corner but I know they are done for the season. If anyone here breeds I would suggest them before any place else. But if now one has any here you can try, www.mypetchicken.com

UH...that would be Windy Ridge... LOL

BTW Minchi, your girls have REALLY slowed down with the egg production. I think they are taking a summer vacation. :)

Thanks for the tip! I'm defiantly checking them out.

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where is a good place to get chickens in or near the springs? I intend on keeping them as pets and for the eggs. I am just starting out so any directions you could point me in would be helpful. Thanks
Here are some question that can help us help you:
  • What are you actually looking for?
  • Are you looking for Chicks, Point of Lay pullets, or currently laying hens?
  • Any specific breeds you are interested in?
  • How many?
  • Do you have a coop and run built yet?
  • And last but not least, where are you located?

I am looking for friendly birds ( i have kids that will want to pet them) preferably point of lay but also considering currently laying hens. My coup and run are about 50% done and I think I want to start out with just a few. Maybe three or four. I'm in the springs.

OK. That helps. I responded to your PM....

When do you think your coop and run will be completed? How big will it end up being?

Sorry for so many questions, but these will help everyone help you.

Friendly birds....always a good choice. Like I said in the PM, I have to wait a few more weeks beore I let any go from my flock. I need to be able to choose which ones look the most promising. This may also mean that a mature hen ot two could possibly go.... Only time will tell.

Minchi called the post office; they have been picked up already.

On a separate note; has anyone seen McMurrays started pullets? $16 to $18 per chick! And they are only 4 weeks old!!!!
Murray McMurray charges an arm and a leg to ship started pullets. I priced an order, and shipping was $150.

She had done that, but the postal worker are not allowed to open boxes, even if given permission by the shipper.

Honeslty, if I'd have been a postal worker in that post office, I'd have risked losing my job to open the box.
Thanks so much for the sweet offer!
I could be wrong, but I think they dub the top beak (clip HALF of it off so they don't peck at each other. It's VERY sad to see a chicken disfigured in this way.) Double check before ordering if this is something that bothers you.
OH GOOD - you did get my smartphone message. THANKS so very much for posting the update for me - I truly do appreciate it!!

So glad someone was able to get them. I just saw this, and was in Denver yesterday..

Yea, typed it when I was running out the door this morning. :p

Hopefully they are over it when I get them home. I have eaten only 2 eggs since I left them with you. ;)
