Menchi inspecting the floor of her coop making sure it is level.

Sadly it turns out that I painted the wrong side and have to paint again... That floor is heavy, around 150LB or more.

Welcome Warner123 and anyone else I missed since I am not on as often as I like... and Congrads on the first EE egg too !

Sounds so familiar ... but Wendell is right, now you have minimized moisture (if we ever get any) finding its way into the wood!

Whats going on with your Silkies-if I remember correctly they are not cold hardy? I imagine they are tough to keep alive in the winter without bringing them in here...
Actually they do fairly well up here, you just need to keep good ventilation and moisture down. And if these guys stay over winter I wont be opening the coop on wet days. but they have plenty of coop space so that isn't an issue. The main issue is that I am in city limits and with the no rooster law most people aren't interested in boys unless they are a big, meaty breed. The closer to roasting age, the better. :(

ah, I see your dilema! well let me know if he makes it! I would be interested in seeing what a cross with a silkie looks like...I could see that being a fun one to hatch!!!

I am now the proud owner of one of Chick In The Burbs' silkies. Cute little thing. Sorry we couldn't spend more time chatting, our little girl only had a 45 minute nap and was getting slap happy

Little chicken is warm in the coop. What a good looking bird! Too bad I can't have a roo.

Glad to know she made it safe and sound. :) And I fully understand a tired child! Toby can get flat grouchy if he gets shorted on sleep.

We're lucky, Quinn really is the happiest baby ever. The last 11 months have just been fantastic. She goes out and feeds the chickens with me every morning. Just a happy little girl.

Wendel... do your girls like to be under everything you are doing? We came so close to crushing the girls because the moment we would lift the bottom to move it they would rush under. ... Oh and my girls just learned that worms are tasty, right about the moment I finished tamping the area under the coop.

LOL. Yup!

On friday I had the whole bucket of screws with me, but not yesterday...On friday they were picking out screws from the bucket as soon as I set it down. I picked up over 15 of them... Kept having to shoo them away so we could move the ladder.
