Colored Chicks? Crazy! Must see

I think you mean smooshed, not smooched.
I smooched on my cat this morning when she was beggin for attention.

DD2 isn't getting a guinea pig until she proves she can scooper the cat's litter box and wash out the water bowls for our chicks without being nagged.

She would find dyed chicks 'disgusting' and wouldn't want one.
She gave me a hug yesterday because I successfully resisted 100 banty chicks at TSC yesterday (un-dyed).

I may have to go back and get them today

I find perfectly natural chicks entirely too cute to resist.

I admit I find the dyed chicks very cute. My feedstore sells them, but with every chick they sell, they hand out a care sheet. I have seen them discourage some people from buying chickies. They are more than happy to walk around the store saying, you'll need a 25 lb bag of food, that little one won't last you two days, here's the light you need, and the feeders you need, and the waterers and you might need this....you get the picture.

WGC I meant SMOOCHED

I think the blame is rather misplaced. Chicks are so adorable there isn't really much more inducement to buy them colored than natural. It's the holiday itself that encourages impulse buying of chicks, really, and I'll bet most folks wouldn't be for banning Easter for the sake of the chicks.

ETA . . . I do know our pet shops quit selling rabbits during the month of Easter, and I'm much more on board with that than making dyed chicks illegal. Our TSC ONLY sell chicks around Easter, and there's no reason for that when there are several other perfectly good Spring and Summer months to sell chicks in.

Yeah, think of all the harmless innocent lillies that have been left to die after Easter is over and no one waters them any more

Not trying to stir the pot, but I believe its also illegal in some states too isn't it?

Yup. Not sure which ones, but there was a list on BYC a year or so ago when this came up last. Some places went with the 6 chick minimum rather than ban coloring them.

Colored Chicks is how I first got started in chickens. We kept them for about 10 months and then the weather got cold so we gave them to a good home. Now we are back into the chicken business and hopefully will be for years. The first experience was a good one and we knew what was needed this time before we got started.
