Colored Rangers Grow Out Journal/ Video Added pg 11

Quote:
They do not have any issues the Cornish do. PerfectlyPolish has a few
still alive from our summer order we split.

I'm not sure how they lay and they won't breed and produce more rangers.
Keeping them after 12 weeks is a waste of feed or an affection for a cool
bird.

I have a 6 month old white breasted turkey that I can't kill. She is too
sweet but is starting to have leg problems. We all have hearts.

Having to slaughter a Cornish young may be a positive of the breed.

Well after opening up the rest of their area and pushing the brooder back against the wall they all have spread out and not in one big pile now a bunch of piles.

Other then that that is all I have to report for now. Oh yeah and they just finished off their 2nd 50lb sack of feed. Almost forgot, I had to extend the walls higher as I went out to check on them and had a few outside their area. They jumped/flew over. And these are suppose to be broilers ???

Hahaha, I warned ya. smile

Yeah Yeah Yeah, I had to see it for my self I guess.

Basically so far they are like raising a normal chick but the growth is twice as fast. The scratc, dig jump/fly, and even caught one last night trying to take a dust bath in the brooder with the bedding @21/2 weeks ??

*** UPDATE ***

Well it is now day 18 and here is a couple pics of two different chicks. They are starting to feather in nicely. Seems like every hour they grow larger. They eat alot still. They are now up to about 12 lbs a day or more. As you can see in the picture of their area I put up a net around the edge to help keep them in, it is 2" plastic netting 48" tall, works great. They have even starting roosting on the brooder, last night went out to give water and there was 4 roosting on the top edge of the brooder, wish I had my camera.

Here is a pic for size comparasion. These are chicks that have just been put out onto pasture at about 14 days. To get these chicks to this size it took me 63 lbs for 100 chicks. I just don't see how the Rangers can compete with the cornish x. Even if you lose a few the amount of feed is tremendous.
