columbian ameraucana~possible? genetic gurus....

I have a columbian colored pullet (21/22 weeks old). First one that I ever produced. Not sure of which breeding she's from though. I had a blue-red splash over a variety of color hens (partridge, silver, blue, blue-red splash) and a buff laced crested over some non EE hens of various colors. My only problem with this pullet is she did not get the muff/beard, and I think she has green legs, but you get alot of that with EE's anyway.

Hello all,

I'm on a quest to identify my 10 week old supposed Araucana chick, and I came upon this thread. She has always had the muffs or tufts under her eyes. Always has been rumpless and was all black with slight blonde over the beak as a small chick. When you pick her up she feels more dense like our young roo we have but is alot more relaxed when you handle her compare to the roo. She has been getting more and more white on her and I have been told that she has columbian patterning. Some have told me that my beloved hen is actually a roo. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I think you have a roo. Sorry. Also, I thnk you probably have a Easter Egger that just doesn't have tail feathers. Sometimes they just don't grow them until later.

I was going to comment on the facebook pics but can't find them today. These ladies are showing promise! Any cockerels worthy of keeping over? I still remember the gorgeous buff columbian hen I saw at a friends house that had perfect markings and slate legs. I just sold my red columbian EE rooster with some smutty backed barred columbian pullets to a 4-H kid. Some day, I'll have some of these clean columbians though

Well, FMP, happened to think all you folks might not like being tagged in the photo, so I removed it..LOL. These girls are looking good color wise. Still have to work on type and egg color. Yes, I'll end up with two young cockerels and three pullets with potential.

Quote: If you use Light Sussex for the cross, you will get white skin with white shanks. Since white is recessive in the shanks, you can tweak shank color as you wish. Since Light Sussex are eWh based, you will not have to worry about using color balancing in the undercolor to create correct top color in the plumage like you would in an eb (Brown) locus based bird.

It is free, how good can it be? All these little lists and buttons to push...
It isn't even in english. It doesn't know anything about my chickens.
You have to spend too much time playing with it to learn anything from it.
And those stupid pictures, they don't teach me anything. They only make me forget to read the descriptions.
And what stupid descriptions they are. I don't see any resemblance with the actual colornames at our local exhibition. What the ... is a groundcolor and a patterncolor?
Does he even have a clue how to make a new chickencolor?
None of the experts ever said a good word about it...
Henk69, I assure you that I meant no disrespect with my question about the genetic calculator! Just trying to learn all I can. I certainly do thank you for your time and effort to enhance our learning.
