I love the columbian color, but it seems linked to yellow skin/shanks which we all know doesn't work with ameraucana. Is there any way to acheive the columbian color with white skin &blue shanks? Thanks

Hi guys,
I know this is an ancient thread. Please pardon my archeology in digging it up, but I'm curious if there's been progress. I love the light Columbian coloring and would love a couple of Ameracauna-based EE with this coloring.

Since I'm still planning my flock, could anyone tell me what color Ameracaunas can cross with a light Sussex roo to produce light Columbian offspring? I'd like to add one to my wishlist. =D

Sorry if this is an elementary question...I've tried to do some research on genetics and attempted the chicken calculator, but it all makes my brain hurt.

Thanks!

Hi! Is Columbian kind of like Lakenvelder's coloring / markings.
Lakenvelders have slate legs, white skin (I think), and lay white eggs.
I've got a pic of Ameraucana X Lakenvelder cross roo somewhere.

I don't know the answer, but I bet they'd be beautiful birds.

I don't think columbian gene & the white skin gene have known linkage do they?

Light Sussex have white legs & silver columbian plumage.

One could make an ameraucana with slate legs & columbian plumage.
