Hi Columbian Rock lovers. I have a couple of young cockerels. They are stock from Dick Nieuwland in Canada. I am in central New York state, near Syracuse. I don't ship but if you happen to live nearby and are interested let me know.

Dick is where I got my start in Columbian Rocks (been breeding them now for 3 seasons). Good to know you have the same line as at some point we will both need some "outside" blood.

Post some pix if you get a chance, I'd love to see some of your birds. Pouring rain here right now from the Tropical Storm "Karen" that kinda fizzled out (but we need the rain). I'll try to post some pix of my breeders one day next week

Unfortunately, two boys are all I have. I also have a Silver Penciled Rock roo and no hens, I guess I'm collecting roosters. My Columbians are only 3 weeks old, but I don't think hens could have such large feet and be so tall. I'm trying to wish one of them into a girl but I don't think it's working!

3 week old Columbians - not much comb yet, but they are really tall and have huge feet. They also like to spar with each other. May be too early to know fro sure but all I can see are boys.

if I only Had one Good Columbian Rooster and was forced to breed outside of the breed, what would be the Closest chicken breed I would need to introduce? a breed close in type, size and color pattern as possible, any ideas?

Find a couple of REALLY good (typey, good sized) barred rock females. Breed your CR male to them. Keep ONLY the solid black female offspring.

Breed the solid black females back to the CR male and you will get "some" Columbian patterned males and females.....from there, keep only CR looking females and breed back to the original Cr male
