Oh ok. I Dont use mine for meat just for eggs. I have (as of now) 7 chickens total. So CR's dont live longer or shorter than other chickens?? How many years?

I guess I need to jump in here....I've been breeding Columbian Plymouth Rocks in LF now for just over 4 yrs. My original trio came in from Canada and I have bred from them and 1 hen that came from the Powell lines out of Ohio. My cockbirds are very large, my current broodcock is just over a year old (March 2013) and he weighs 12 lbs +. Size on the hens is at or above standard with some of my females a tad over 8lbs. I had my first one ever go broody a few weeks ago and she is currently raising 9 little ones. They are great birds, but quality ones are very difficult to find

Here are a few pictures

I do know people are impressed by the size of my CR's. But then they're not chicken people. And yes they are great birds.

Thank you very much,

Those are some nice looking birds and great weights.

Funny about the broodiness. I just have to think about raising more birds and I'll get a couple of broody Columbian Rocks the next day - with or without eggs.
