I have a 5 mo. old Leghorn that was a victim of an over zealous rooster that got rehomed yesterday.
I've been putting antibiotic ointment on it for a couple weeks. When I first noticed it there was just a couple little nicks in it but I'm of the pro-active type and wanted to head infection off.
I started noticing the injuries were getting worse and worse and kept putting the cream on every day but I'm now finding swelling in her comb. What is best to clean it with? Where he was grabbing her was where the comb meets her head so I'm thinking it's kind of a tearing type injury. The feathers are kind of black with dirt and the bigger injuries are at the base so I'm worried about infection. She's acting fine (eating, drinking, pooping) and laying her egg regularly thankfully.
I will get pictures on here in a little bit.
Does she need antibiotics since it's swelling? She lets me work with here and is quite tame.
Her name is One Feather.
