Nobody around me has eggs i want either ....
If you really want some you can buy them on Ebay or BYC..
Shipping is around $15 and the hatch probably willl be about 50% or less though but if you REALLY want some....BAD.......... joint the shipped egg club
.Many of us use shipped alongwith the local if we can find some local to get the breeds we want
.

what is the shipped egg club?

Well... it's day 12 already!!! Been having some issues with lower temperatures now because the temp outside has gone lower than the AC. I was keeping it at 75, but when it's 66 outside it doesn't make any difference what i set it at. Forecast says low 50's tomorrow morning so I might be up in the night checking that thing :(....

All year I wait for the temperature to go down.. its so nice for me but not so good for the incubator...

My new battery arrives tomorrow so I will check them again. So far no smells!!!

lol i wish my hen would go broody, but since she is the only one laying, and she has only been laying a week, i dont think it will happen!

she has a good lay rate so far, to me! 5 days out of 6 we got a pretty tan egg!

I plead temporary insanity, I shouldn't be hatching this late in the year, but I set a dozen Serama eggs in the 25th. They should be due on the 14th of November, but with Seramas it could be earlier, my last hatch took 20 days.
I candled last night and it looks like 7 or 8 are developing, which is great since these were shipped and those tiny eggs are so fragile.

Omg can't wait. Tell me a story of your first broody hen everyone! It will ease my hyperness!

I've only ever had 2 broodies; my first, about 30 years ago quit the nest about 5 days before hatch; I think a possum was getting in and bothering her. When I found the eggs and it didin't look like she was going to get back on them I brought them in the house; make a little nest of hay in a box and put them in; set an old heating pad on top of them and 4 out of 5 hatched!

My second broody was this summer; when she wouldn't quit the nest box I moved her to a dog kennel, put in a box of straw, put in a couple days worth of eggs that hadn't been in the fridge plus some that had. She hatched about 50% and was a real good mamma. but that was in July and she hasn't been laying since so i may cull her when i cull other hens in the spring.

Well you are not the only crazy one! I have 4 Welsummer chicks in the living room that hatched Sep 20 and 32 eggs in the 'bator set Oct 25. 25 of them were shipped and one with a visible crack which I drizzled with melted crayon. I candled a few last night and while I *thought* I saw pulsing in a couple it could just be fluctuations in the flashlight. Otherwise mostly I'm just seeing yolk shadows. will probably wait and look again next weekend and see what we have.

OK, I have two broody at the same time. One of my little Serama ladies and a young Silkie pullet (hen now I guess), who just started laying eggs about two weeks ago and has now decided to sit as well. Not sure how dependable she will be and they are sharing the "box" (one of my pet carriers turned into a nesting box). There are three other carrier/nesting boxes, but maybe she gets confidence from Miss Goldie.
