My Khaki Campbell duck eggs are due on Halloween! May I join? I have never done this before... I only have two left and I went into lockdown Friday cuz I thought they were due today :/ I saw movement when I candled though so... Also I heard that they should be peeping and pecking by now and they are not. Any duck people out there that can help me!?

Hi from what i have read on here,you wont hear any peeping until they have internaly pipped.You may not see any rocking until later they have no room to move around the shell until they start to zip.I am no expert have never hatched any ducks or chickens.This is my first time hatching.I am not having any luck with my pekin,my mallards and chickens are doing good.I will have 8 chicken eggs to go in lock down on Halloween.All my pekin that were to go into lockdown with them died early.I wish you the best of luck.Hope i have helped a little.Cant wait to get some fuzzy butts.

Hey Liz! Sorry I don't know about duck eggs, GREaT avatar!

Sandy: Still have power, a quick look around the property and nothing amiss. The only damage so far is the LGD dog pee in my house from a dog that's never been inside before..

My first broody was my first hatch ever. It was in November and I was really stressing about the outside temperate, turns out -Mother Nature really knows what she's doing. Broodys are the best incubators EVER! She only hatched one chick, probably because we kept fooling with the eggs, checking them over and over again. We couldn't help it! It was all so new and fascinating to us. I since have taken a more 'hands off' approach and have more successful broody hatches. Now I've got to drum up a picture of her and her chick.

Since then, we've had many Broody Hatches.








this last pic, is of a hen that hatched out under my deck and just 'showed up' with her brood. Sweet surprise.
