Well I have to correct myself. I did a late check on the girls.... 4 eggs 3 chicken, 1 turkey. Minor improvement.

Finally got my eggs from MPC today! I ended up with 7 Marans (YAY!!!) 3 RIR and 3 EE (although they look really white to me to be labeled EE...). I added 3 brown eggs from our flock, 2 or 3 olive eggs, and I'm expiriementing with my favorite grocery store eggs. I've definitely seen donuts before, and they're a beautiful like, terra cotta color. So I'm throwing 4 of those in, too. All together I'll have 25 eggs. Now I'm just impatient about letting them sit for 12 hours before I put them in! (Although putting them in tomorrow means a hatch date of the day before my baby's 2nd birthday. So nifty!)

I've heard giving artificial lighting at night helps hens lay when their in a no laying mode

I have heat in my coop but i do not add light to extend laying. Heat is only on in the bantam / grow out pen.

I have 32 eggs in incubator.8 of them are due Nov 3.My first go at it.
My first rookie mistake,I have 5 different hatch dates.What was i thinking. Thats right I wasn't LOL! Now i got to build a hatcher to put them in at lockdown.

Started 12 RIR, 12 BA, 12 BR, 6 EE for hatch on 11/3. RIR and BA look great at day 9, out of the BR only 3 were fertile also EE only had 3 fertile. Second set is BCM, LS, SS, Lav. Orp. to hatch 11/6.

This is my first time, too. Wish me luck!

Welcome to the group. I started out with a home made cooler bator and ended up building another one for a hatcher too!!
