I am sort of wondering where all those babies you are hatching out are... Sounds almost as big than Cackle Hatchery!!HAHABut maybe you are selling them off as you hatch? I would be truly overwhelmed.

Sold some, culled the weak ones. lost some when i hardened them off to the chick pen in the coop. Im hard on chicks lol. Im not as hard on the big birds tho, they get 2 chances with tylan. Problems after that they meet the ax. My flock only has room for the strongest to thrive

No these are local eggs. The lady lives literally 15 minutes from my house.

I detected a slight odor coming from one of the eggs, it appears to have a
blob inside but it is smaller than the other blobs... i'm thinking i should
trust my nose and remove it???

ok I"m going to have to get a brighter light and study some pics, I'm pretty sure that several of the EEs were scrambled by the PO, a couple are so dark tho I can't see a thing, like the shell is really thick or something. of the others that I can see into, there might be a couple developing, but I'm not sure. Forget seeing anything in the Marans. But my banty babies are jumping for joy; very light brown shells and smaller eggs, so the light penetrates better, much easier to see. I'm on Day 8

Is it still moving inside? If not then I would toss it. You do not want to risk it exploding and contaminating all the other eggs.

A Mini LED flashlight works great at candling. I found mine at the dollar store. It has 9 little lights. If you want to see into the dark eggs use two of them. Have someone hold the egg and use one light on the top and one on the bottom. I spent a little more and bought a Cree LED flashlight and it can penetrate a Marans egg.I was able to see into 11/12 of the Marans eggs I have in the incubator now.

I had bought the last Rayovac sportsman at Wallmart becuase it had a rubber rim around the light, But it isn't as bright as my big ol mag light that needs batteries or a new bulb. Going to take it back and look around and see what else I can find.

I have a baby!!!! S/he is still wet. How long does it take for them to dry? None of the others have pipped yet. I sure hope they hatch.They were all alive when put in lockdown. Some of the shells seem really think will that create a problem during hatch?
