Come hatch along with us!!! Last sets of the year! 10-18 to 11-7

I always use egg cartons for the shipped eggs. You want to get that air cell back to the top and everything else where it is supposed to be.  If you lay them on their sides you are defeating the purpose of not turning.

Ok i have them in the bator in the carton standing up.Maybe i will add the turner back in for them so they can stand up.

Now have 2 EE's hatched, 1 Barred x Orp.

a marans external pip, a broiler external pip and another EE external pip.

I'm very excited cause I set them on a Sunday night I figured they wouldn't hatch til tomorrow and that I might have to go to work with them not hatched.

fingers crossed for Sunday.

Yes it does. Can really tell its my first time hatching.Next time i'll try not go into full panic mode.LOL!!!
My chick looks like my GLW rooster.S/he is starting to get a little fluff to her now.Moms a EE that lays a olive egg. Just a mutt chick but so cute.

Chrissy everybody panics here and there during a hatch...first or 20th.Its always stressful.Your doing fine.

Yay! Congrats on your chickies! Cant wait to see pictures!

Today is day 7 for my BBS Orpingtons. Out of 16, 8 have veins, and out of those I saw 3 definite bouncing babies! One was doing back flips! lol. I always eggtopsy, so of the 8 tossed 6 had blood rings and 2 were clear. This is the first time I've tried not turning for the first week, and I am very impressed at how many started, even if they did quit. Even the 3 cracked eggs started, and one had a teeny tiny embryo. It was dead, but I am still impressed considering the odds against them.

I have found the same thing with not turning them for that first week. Even though some quit most of them do start to develop.

Started 75 chicken eggs on 10/16 and are due on 11/6 and another 24 are due on 11/10. But today I have two eggs that are getting ready to hatch. Only took 18 days. I turn them myself and I'm very excited to watch them come out. These are my 2nd time incubating.

Ok a update.... 2other chicks hatched so i helped the other one. But Sadly she didnt make it.She was dead. But it wasnt the one that pipped wrong end. That one is doing okay thou it looks like it tore a vein cause there is alot of blood. i only made the hole a little bigger so it can breath.i was to scared to do anything else.Fingers crossed s/he will be out by morning. So thats 3 babies 1 still trying and 1 doa. That leaves me with 3eggs that hasnt done anything.

Crissy....you are right.. let that wrong end baby take its time. The veins have to dry up.If there is blood it isnt ready. For future referrence
There is a youtube video on helping an egg hatch.zYou dont ever want to go fast and you want to run your humidity up to its highest point you are aiming for before opening the bator if others have pipped. Also in the case of wrong end pip you need to carefully pick some shell off and tear a tiny bit of membrane but just enough for it to breath.. no more or you can kill it make it bleed to death.however any other non hatch situation you pick off some shell slowly with a tweezers but do NOT pull off the membrane. As long as they can breath they can be ok.Watch the video about helping and never do if they have pipped unless over 12 or more hours have passed. There ls no blood in a normal hatch at all.Good luck on all your babies
