Mine's doing that too, but only because it's raining!

So.....any eggs? Mine started squatting, and her comb is shooting skyward! Sorry for the blood. She's fine now. Poor baby :(.

Ouch - what happened?

No - AC has not laid an egg and all that getting in/out of the nest box activity has ceased. I have witnessed Foghorn mating her alot, but I think she's waiting for spring to start her egg laying :(

Smokey went broody on Feb 1st and is sitting on 3 of her green eggs & 3 of Snow White's white eggs - due to hatch 2/21? - so we're looking forward to some new chicks at the end of February.

My latest purchase is about 8 eggs each of Ameraucana and Welsummers arriving either today or tomorrow for hatching in the incubator. So hopefully we'll get some blue & dark brown egg layers out of that hatch.

After a whopping 56 consecutive laying days - Snow White finally didn't lay an egg, so I got a big fat ZERO eggs yesterday. Sort of bummed about that - but I suppose she needed the break. So presently I have just 1 layer!

My four 16wo Lavender Orpingtons do not look even close to laying - but they are interested in the nest box and eating layer feed/oyster shell - so maybe their bodies are getting ready. I can't tell about the Silkies - they still are a mystery to me.

And we are celebrating that we have 2 adorable new chicks - named by my children - on the left is Sunny & on the right is Spots - EE Bandit & WL Foghorn's offspring :)

Aw, they're adorable!
One of my hens pecked her comb. She's doing much better now, and we're keeping them seperate. I think we may look into getting some pinless peepers for the two bully hens.

Do you have lighting in your coop? That may help her lay quicker. We don't, unfortunatally- we don't really have a way to get electricity out there.

I caught her in the coop today....

But she came out. She's heading that direction again....even if she isn't going to lay her egg, at least she's practicing!

We do have lighting - our coop is about 50 feet away from outside GFCI receptacle so I have several lengths of heavy duty outdoor extension cords running to a 6 outlet strip where I plugged in a timer that has the tent lights in it. LOL! I did the wiring last summer so I could have a heat lamp out there and keep the babies warm between weeks 4 & 6 before moving them into the big coop area.

I haven't even had time to run out there to check on anyone since this morning - between dishwasher repairman & taxes & homeschool & laundry - it's been a busy day!

Hope you get another egg today! I got one from Snow White this morning :)

She LAYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right in the nest box too! A little beautiful white egg!!!! SO excited!
