Come One, Come All to the Greatest Unofficial Bird Show for the Nest Two Weeks (No Prizes)

Meet Mo' Chicken. Standard cochin. Earlier this summer he survived a fox attack. He made 3 trips to the vet, and lived through my tube feeding him. My $4 chick is now a $200 marvel.

This is Maisie. She is a 4 year old Rhode Island Red. Maisie is the goofball in my flock. She has a massive comb and wattles, she has spurs and pointed hackle feathers like a rooster, she is incredibly loud, and she has the funniest personality. She gets really jealous if I spend time with the other chickens instead of with her. She will come over and pull at my pants or shirt to get my attention. She is also incredibly food obsessed, more so than any of my other chickens. She will stand where I put the treats (out of her reach) and yell at me until I give her some. She also understands body language. If you put your fist in her face, she will get really mad and start attacking you. But, if you put your open hand to her face, she will lift her head and wait for you to rub between her wattles. :gig

I vote for Maisie!!!

This is Dusty. She is a 4 year old Easter Egger that has a very friendly personality. She likes to be “put to bed” occasionally and will sit on my deck rail in the evening waiting for me to come out to call the other free-ranging birds to the coop for the night (see pic). She won’t come to the coop unless I physically carry her to the coop. I think she likes the individual attention. 😂 She’s been a very good layer all these years.

Time for a quail entry! My lovely rescue cornutix orange male is camera shy, however, the girls love the camera. Honestly they love everything. They are the most curious creatures I've ever met. Anything that is new is so exciting to them! They love to "help" when I'm cleaning out the pen, filling water or burying food waste to compost.

This one is "Mrs. Cucumber" (nine year old named her). She and Cora are the most calm and friendly birds.

This is Jokgu- No, not the same piano playing chicken that starred on America’s Got Talent, but that is who she is named after. Despite not having picked up the talent yet herself, Jokgu is still a spunky and funny little girl. She may be hatchery quality but she knows she’s a model anyways :D

She is a 2 year old BR, and I was lucky to get this picture the DAY before most her tail fell out- why do they have to molt? 😂

I welcome everyone who has come to either enter this competition or watch this play out.
You can have a maximum of 2 entries. You may enter any bird that you own, or previously owned.
The winner will be decided in two ways. I will decide a top 3 judged by myself, and another top 3 will be decided by you guys.
I will be judging based on beauty, health, and most importantly personality.
I will request that when you enter your bird that you have a small description of their personality and their health.
The contest will end on the 18th of October, or when there are 20 entries.
Then I will open a voting poll for you guys to vote for your favorites, then I will judge by myself and announce the winners of both judgings.
Other than all of this have fun.

This is my baby girl. I love grey animals and she is very definitely that. When she was a few weeks old, she developed that problem with her leg tendon, where her leg would bend the wrong way, and I brought her into the kitchen for a couple of weeks. The only way I could think to deal with it was to use vet tape and flexible fabric band aids to keep her leg bent the right way. One day after re-building the splint yet again, I decided that she might need the company of the other birds to help her get better, so I put her back with the others. Last night I managed to catch her and remove the last of the bandages and she seems to be quite happy about everything. Her comb is pale because she is in an indoor stall. I truly believe that the bright combs and deep yellow yolks come from the sun!
