We had some when I was a kid. The females got mean when they reached maturity, the males were okay as long as you weren't around another racoon. My brother got bit by his male after he was at his buddy's house playing with his buddy's male. The coon (my brother's) would always bite him after that. But he (my brother) would always bait his coonhound with the coon too, not a good idea for a 'pet'. His name was Bubbles (the coon, not my brother
