I have a heinz 57 mix of chicks in my flock = = = Wyandottes, Marans, EE, leghorns, speckled sussex, partridge rocks, and welsummers.

The key is having enough space and perches and hiding spots . . ..

That said, each bird and breed has their own personality. My leghorns are the flighty ones. I had three, but one was a bully from the very beginning. When she started laying she was near the top of the pecking order and would still pick on ANYONE who got too close to her. . . .She would of made a great ONLY child.

Also had a GLW that was submissive by herself, but dominant and a bully when the SLW buddy was around.

Both of these girls did not changed their ways despite many things that I tried. I ended up selling them around 6 - 7 months of age. . . I wanted to introduce some new chicks to the flock and did not want the two bullies picking on the new ones excessively. . .. .

So, you see size does not count . . .. If you leghorn has the attitude she will torture who ever she wants to - - - bigger or smaller than herself MAKES no difference. My other two leghorns are sweet hearts that don't mess with anybody. They get along with everyone and they are so quick that the Big Butted hens can not do any harm to them . . . .

Iffin it were me, I'd order at least two leghorns. I've found that birds of a feather really do flock together. In my adult flock of all brahmas, the darks stay mainly with the darks, lights with lights and buffs with buffs.
Now I'm observing the same thing with my juvenile flock. The birds of the same breed and/or color stick together.
There is strength in numbers.

I have bantams mixed with my larger girls. I used to have some white leghorns. I really don't care for them although I will probably breed them again in the next few years. Never had a problem. Only problems have had was introduction if they're different ages. If the white leghorns are going to be younger and the other birds are full grown, I would make sure the leghorns are close to full grown at least before introducing them.

My sister has all battery hens. 4 blackgreen 2 buffs and 1 White leghorn all live together one of the big black one gets bullied. Leghorn is fine. Lays every day without fail White eggs

My bantams were free they not getting on. The lavender arucana has adopted the 8 wk old silkie. And the Wyandotte partridge has adopted 3 12 wk hybrids. Now theres a divide they bully each other should I let them get on with it or seperate? Have to box the silkie at night seperate as in coop they peck her. In run they just herd them away

Only had 48hrs so early days
