My chickens are about 5 mo old. We have 6 and we've been getting 4 eggs per day consistently for awhile. Today I've noticed that a couple of them have been unusually very noisy. Not sure why. Don't know if they could be stressed, although nothing environmentally is different. We feed them good laying food, grit, oyster shell, snacks. Any suggestions?

Been laying for about a month, just yesterday have been unusually noisy.
I used to let them free range quotes bit until the neighbors started complaining....ugh! Now I let them out a few hours in the evening and they put themselves to bed. Hubby says I've spoiled them and they want out all the time. But yesterday they did it even when they were out.

Do you have enough nesting boxes? One of mine cried bloody murder one day just because somebody else was in the nesting box.
Lol....we have 6 chickens, 3 nesting boxes. I also noticed last night that one of them got separated from the others and starting squawking like crazy! I went out to calm her and then was ok. They were just different yesterday. So far seem fine this morning. We'll see.

There will be days like that!

I've worn earplugs on more than one occasion. :) As the chicks get older, they find their voice. They experiment with their voices. The find what works for them.

Right now, my turkey poults are in their "voice" and talk NONSTOP all day.

Smile and answer the chickens. They tend to like that. :)

Could also be a predator or a raptor. My hens sound the alarm when they see a hawk or a fox, and will continue until I go out there.
At 5 a.m. this morning I was feeding them and I heard a noise out in the woods, and the hens started to sound off. I walked out towards the noise and a Buck ran off. He was scratching his antlers against a tree. GC
