I have 2 silkies, and had one bantam hen. Rudabega, my broody hen, was getting bullied to stay on her eggs by Ashley, the bantam, and Robin, my silkie roo. They pecked her head bald and made her bleed once. I rehomed Ashley, but not before she killed three chicks. Rudabega just hatched 4 of her eggs herself. Two didn't make it, one's neck was broken and she left one to die. I found one chick that I thought was dead. It was cold and still wet. Put her (Sunny) under a heat lamp and she immediately came back to life. I had to help a chick (Moon) hatch later that day, that again, I thought was dead in the egg. So those two are a day younger than others. I introduced Sunny to Rudabega and the other chicks yesterday, and she seemed to fit right in. I have a silkie and two Austrolorps that are about 10 weeks old, and they keep trying to peck at the babies. Rudabega and Robin have been very good at protecting then, but today, Raven (Australorp) pecked Sunny on the head. She turned her head to the side and ran into my hands. She seems lethargic and is just resting in the sun, when she was very energetic this morning. She keeps "yawning" and falling asleep on her feet. She's not walking as well as she was, either. I don't see a hole, or any blood, but I'm scared she may get worse?? The teenagers are in chicken jail right now. I introduced Moon today, and she seems to be integrating well. This is my first hatched group of chickies I don't have an incubator, so it's imperative that they all get along. Anyway, any suggestions on how to prevent any more chicks from being pecked? What should I do with Sunny? Bring her back inside? Group photo is before the pecking, next one is after.

*My roo is the sweetest now that Ashley is gone. He hasn't shown any violent behavior except to keep the teenagers separated from the babies.

I think you should bring her in to watch her. So that she doesn't get lonely, maybe bring another chick in with her. I think that it would probably be best to seperate all of the chicks in a seperate run inside the pen until they are older.

I've heard silkies can be bullied by other breeds. In your experience is this true?
