Confessions: Animal Hoarding, Animal Planet, Jan 14th, about chickens!

I can't say that I blame you.....I saw Rob up there , and just assumed that the people who were helping out were volunteer BYC members . They mentioned the humane society on the cat lady , but I heard nor read anything from your organization . Not much can be done about it now....but I'm sure eveyone appreciates the hard work you all do to save these animals !

Yeah, we're pretty frustrated that our group got cut out pretty much altogether with all the hard work we did! We certainly don't regret helping the chickens themselves because they are wonderful and we are so happy they're in a better place now, but we thought Animal Planet would help us out just a little here. We have put a lot of time, effort, love, and care into those birds so it's just upsetting that Animal Planet chose to just push us aside like that, especially because we can use all the help we can get placing those roosters. Of course we took the birds for free, I don't think Animal Planet even donated at all to help with their care.

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words, though!

You're welcome , but I don't think you'll like me very much on my views . While I do appreciate most rescue organizations , I was asking myself the whole program "why doesn't he just solve the problem...aka...chicken noodle soup . I do understand they were his family , his origional family should have stepped in way before this though . I guess I just don't understand people who can live in feces . My chickens ( while I do enjoy them ) are here for a reason...eggs and entertainment . I feel sad when one dies.....but if I go to the local farm store and buy what are supossed to be pullets , and a rooster ends up living in my flock....when he gets old enough he's in the pot . I have 4 roosters right now ...2 in the upper part of the coop because the beat the crap out of my hens and bantie roos . Sorry.....All I meant to say is you did a good job , and that we have different points of view as far as eating meat . It is nice to have those with strong convictions out there though . It seems to be a rare quality these days .

We all have different perspectives. I see chickens as worthy of living out their full lives, like most people view a dog or cat. I know not everyone feels that way, though, obviously. Nonetheless, Peter wanted his roosters to go where they will not be killed, and that is exactly where they are.

Ok, just got back from a night out with my wife and finally got to see the episode.

SilverPhoenix, I was VERY VERY surprised with how it was edited and am also bothered that Animal Place didn't get proper screen time or promotion. Your organization really did the heavy lifting and continues to do so. I'm also not comfortable with them editing it in a way that made it look like your great organization was just a part of the chicken rescue vs. the key driving force.

If I known, or had any say in how it would be edited I would have definitely requested that they remove me and put the emphasis on Animal Place!

I know it must be frustrating for you all to not have gotten the recognition and attention for your organization you do richly deserve, but I hope you are all VERY proud of yourselves for what you did. You KNOW how much you helped Peter and his animals(and MANY others that we don't even know about)-we know it too.
I, for one, am VERY proud of you and your organization and proud to call you a fellow BYCer!
Way to go Animal Place!!!!!

Ditto!

It is great seeing you Nifty and even a mere second of seeing the Animal Planet logo on one of the tshirts. I thought it was Nifty's BYC helpers, that young lady with black hair.......at least Peter knows that his roos will find good homes! If they don't at least they have a good home to stay in while waiting until they live their lives out in security.
