Hi,
I just joined this group and am going to go to the meetup on the 27th. It sounds nice to meet other CT peeps. I know how to raise etc... but, still love to learn new things. Hope to see other BYC'r CT'rs there

I'm a in the closet chicken lover in southington. Even though im learning alot I am finding it difficult to learn about chicken laws. We will be moving soon so I wont be able to get chickens yet,but when i do I want to move to a chicken friendly area and i want a roo. Is there any place on the web to find laws on keeping chickens? We are thinking of moveing to the other side of the stay say Putnem side sinc you can get a nice house and lots of land for under 300,000 and some of the taxes are incredible. I pay like 6 k a year on .60 of an acre and you can get like 8 acres for 1k-5k a year

Hi,

Some towns do have their zoning regulations on the internet. Others do not. It may be best before you buy to go to the town hall and pay for a copy of the zoning regulations book. I believe each town has them. This way you will know before you buy and won't regret choosing a town that does not allow chickens or maybe only allows Hens.

You can also try the Connecticut Farm Bureau and see if you joined as an associate member, if they could help you figure out which towns are chicken friendly. They help our CT farmers alot.

Best of luck to you!!

Hello, I am in need of a couple chicks. I ordered 7 eggs from a fellow member. Two were broke from shipping. Three must have been scrambled. And only one just hatched today. So I am looking for a couple bantam chicks to keep the one that hatched happy. I dont want him to be lonely. If anyone can help please let me know. I would like two or three. doesn't matter what breed as long as they are bantams. I can pick up asap. Would like them as young as possible so they are around the same size. Thanks
