Luke13:34 :

AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!! I put my new banty outside in a wire crate so I could clean out her cage and so she could enjoy the nice day.. When I tried to transfer her back, she slipped out of my fingers and is now loose in the backyard. She is waaay too fast. Of course, my other banty, Betty, also likes to give me the middle claw when I say "time to go back in the run" and will spend the day out and about - making the rest of the girls jealous. Now she and Edith are off causing trouble together, smokin in the bushes and getting tats. Betty is teaching Edith all the places to hide. I know I'll eventually get Betty to go back in the run when I call "treats", but Edith still thinks that treats are just a big plot by me to kill her off.

Grrrr... I left the crate out in the yard with the door open and food inside.. we'll see if she is smart enough to come home.

Now, don't hate me, BethG!

New chick, that's so cute! You're making it harder on me! One of my BO's has gone broody (first time), and I've been lifting her off the nest all week. She's such a good mannered little hen, I know she'd make a good mom - but Lord knows I do not need any more chicks this year. As a matter of fact, I'm rehoming 8 of this spring's pullets to two people who want to start backyard flocks. But, ohhhh the thought of her with a little troupe behind her....... Maybe next year.

Oh poor girl....

You sure you couldn't just let her set on 4 eggs? 2-4 chicks wouldn't be so bad. (I know I'm an enabler

Edith did come home. Silly bird would stand in the yard, looking directly at the run full of the big girls and sing her tragic song to them. They couldn't care less. I finally was able to set up a trap that I will often use to get Betty back in the run.. chased them both around and into the trap. They are both so grounded for life!

Hi sam! Yes, I was over on BYH for a while...don't go there anymore, but that's another story!

New chick - I'm scared of the random ramblings because there's so much going on! I've found that I don't really 'get out' on BYC much because each time I select "recent postings" it's a new page of threads! So many members! I do poke in every now and then and read what people are saying...some is quite amuzing to say the least!

Hi back, Beth! What part of CT are you from? Is there anyone from the eastern side here?

We've got cows, goats, chickens and guineas...well also cats, dogs and parakeets. We actually just butchered up our first ever meat birds..it was quite interesting and fun!

Sorry it took so long to answer the question about "anyone attend the lecture at Ridgefield Library. I was GREAT!. I learned so much. I still do not have a coop or chickens, but I am working on it. I am trying to find female Orp. Chicks too.
