Connecticut!

we getting pummled especialy right now, lol good thing i have 2 of every kind of farm animal almost lol for the arc haha

ugh this weather is nuts, lol imagineall the runs that arent covered, what a muddy mess! lol ........speaking of good thing chickens can swim one might be floating by my window soon lol
My run isn't covered, but it's very well packed, so it just gets puddles.

So, I've decided to re-home my cockerel before my neighbors do it for me. He is a Buff Orpington that is about 12 weeks old and has just started crowing. He has been handled since he was a baby and I can still hold him. He is very good with my girls. He doesn't seem to be an early riser; he let me know he was awake around 8:30 this morning and only crowed twice more after I let him out.

If anyone is interested, feel free to message me. He is free to a good home.

I took these a few weeks ago, so he is slightly bigger now.

Does anyone know of a butcher that will butcherize chickens?

I hate even thinking about that day- but I guess its part of life.

We are in the Middletown/East Hampton area.

Thanks.

Wow we've been getting hit with rain, cleaned the coop and run toady...what a mess!!!!!!!!, hope everyone else has a better experience

I am so sick of the rain! Thankfully our run stayed pretty dry. We have a stream right next to it, so most of water flows in there.

So who else has chickens going INSANE for cicadas? Mine are eating them like crazy.

I haven't noticed any emerging. Where are you?

I put pine straw down in the run and that works great for keeping it mud free. They don't absorb water so water just goes through, and it dries out quickly. Love it.

I havent seen any Cicadas around my yard either, but when I went to the park walking, I heard em !!! My run is covered, but all the sideways rain lol got in I just hate having puddles also the last 1/2 acre of my yard is on a downwards slope, so all that rain ran right down to were it leveled out and made everything a squishy mess!!! i feel like im in quicksand lol

Wow, I'm surprised! Honestly, we have millions of them. You can't even walk outside without stepping on them. I live pretty much in the woods though. If you go out at night, you can hear them crawling through the leaves and if you grab a flashlight they're all coming out of the ground and crawling up the tree trunks. I'm in Berlin (Central CT). They are deafening.. someone was over our house over the weekend and couldn't believe how loud it was here. During the day they're flying around everywhere.. a few have hit me in the face when I was walking! I think it's because we have so many trees & they feed on tree roots while they're underground. The chickens LOVE them. They keep flying into their run too, so apparently they're not too smart.
