Sorry to hear of your troubles, Andrea. What part of CT are you from?

I have a book at home I can look up in. There are antibiotics for chicks under the age of 2 months for upper respitory but, I do not know off hand b/c I do not medicate sick ones I cull

But, that's b/c as you know I have so many it's way to risky to treat and possibly infect the whole flock. Knock on wood I haven't had to cull in a very long time!

Let me go see if I can look it up.

Well the good news is that they seem a little better today, are still acting normal, and no one else seems to be getting the same cold...guess time will tell at this point whether this is a serious infection or just a minor cold ... hopefully nearly 5 week old chicks can fight off whatever is going on.

Lincomycin-Spectinomycin is an antibiotic you can treat young poultry with. Also, it says only up to 7 days but, I would still use it for up to 2 months. Also, Vetrx in a very small quantity on your fingertip rubbed on the outside nostrils is like a vicks affect and will help open up passage way. Good Luck!!!

Sorry for you both ... surprised to hear the raccoons can be a problem during the daytime too; while I *hope* my range is fenced strongly enough I was hoping not to have it tested that way...

Thanks Beth-any idea where I can get them (I'm in Danbury area) or should I just go online?

Hi, anything like that I would say try jefferslivestock. Com or Randall Berkley. I only purchase Mareks vaccines, corid, dust, and vetrx online and I personally get it from jeffers. Good luck and let me know if I can help in anyway!

Hello fellow CT'rs. I am moving and unfortunately can't take my chickens with me

I wanted to put this on here for anyone who was looking for some Easter Eggers and Silkies. I have 7 Easter Egger hens and 1 rooster about 9 months old. Hens are laying but one is broody currently laying on eggs due around the 2nd. I am asking $15 each hen, rooster is free, he is unaggressive and quiet (only crows in the morning). For the silkies i have one white hen $20, 1 blue rooster $5, and 1 blue undetermined $10 (still not sure what it is). About 9 months as well. Email me at [email protected] I don't check on here as often.

Thanks Beth, see, that's why you have the friend Award!
