There's always craigs list and what about Bargain News, they have an online version that I believe is free to advertise, at least it used to be..Does anyone know if the fairs have a place to advertise animals?

most roos sold on cl are eaten i think i am sure if you show your birds at the fair you could put a card on the cage with your number if someone wants to buy birds from you.

I have two questions:

1) Sometimes when I come to the Connecticut forum there are 266 pages of posts, and other times there are 107, why is that?

2) What brand of food does everyone feed their chickens.... starting with chicks and then adult chickens. I still have not gotten any chicks, I am still learning and want to get what is best for them. Gee.. I am already a worried chicken mom and I do not even have any yet!

Thanks for your help everyone!!!

Sometimes you might be looking at the New England thread? Are you subscribed to both NE and CT?

I use Purina layer at the moment. They put marigolds and unicorn horns in it so that my chickens poop marshmallows and rainbows.

I use blue seal grower right now and will be switching to their layer feed. I am feeding oyster shells on the side for now since my flock varies in age by 8 weeks.

How much does everyone pay for oyster shells? I got 3lbs at Animal house in Wolcott for $2.50 a bag. She said she could order me a 25 lb bag, but didn't know how much it would cost. How much do 5 laying hens usually go through?
thanks
