Hope everyone is ready for Sandy!
I got on here today to see what fellow Nutmeggers were posting & doing about Sandy. Must be more doing than posting about it, huh? I've been pretty relaxed about the prospect, but it is gradually dawning on me that this really might be a doozy! I didn't buy water when the rest of the state seemed to Friday & yesterday,'cause I'm still not quite sure what the point is; I don't have a well, is city water gonna fail? Well, I have a Brita-type filter pitcher, and some as-yet-unreturned soda bottles, so I guess I'm okay. Everything in my apartment is electric, so if we lose power--UGGHH!
Of course I'm getting worried about the girls. their coop & run is
way in the back of the yard, closer to the woods than the house. Which means more trees to fall, and a long walk in high wind and rain to go check on them, open & close the coop, feed & water them (I may just let them drink rain water, not empty and refill the water dishes as I usually do). My -non-chicken-keeping friend just offered me a Huge cat carrier to house them during the storm. She has a good heart, but um, 9 chickens, I don't think so.
What are the rest of you doing to prepare?
