It can just about make you want to knock some heads together! Well, me anyway. Leave it to me to think that I could find a small handful of people who be happy to have access to super darn fresh eggs! I have given away far more eggs than I've sold in the 1.5 months my girls have been laying. I enjoy sharing, but was hoping to sell eggs to pay for my feed and put a bit back. I gave my second dozen ( I was soo excited) to my sister who, right under my nose, handed them to her daughter saying "here, you haven't had fresh eggs have you?" I was told last night that my niece's husband said they didn't like them because they tasted funny. I'm very easy going and don't hold grudges but I won't be offering my sis any more eggs. If she asks for them I'll be happy to give her eggs. I've given a lot to friends so they can try fresh eggs, and I mean layed THAT stinkin week, and compare the taste. I don't get it. I won't sell them for $1 a doz. I've been watching the egg prices at WM and Country Mart. I also decorate cakes and if someone even hints that they can get the cake they want cheaper at WM or elsewhere then that's where I suggest they go for their cakes. I'll give away all my eggs before I sell cheaper than Wal Mart sells their old bleached eggs.

Okay, someone define Victory Flock for me.

You folks may not want me at your meetings. I can get wound up about this very subject. I could slap myself for buying those crappy store eggs all these years instead of finding someone around me with fresh eggs for sale. I'm shutting up now.....Ü

Ya'll are just too young. It was WWI originally, but really took hold during the rationing days of WWII. Canned food was hard to come by, so people were encouraged to grow their own food to help with the war effort. Eleanor Roosevelt actually planted one on the White House lawn.

I know a couple of people who donate eggs to the local food bank.
