Jenn he hasnt seen it yet..... Lol
but I am sure he will sometime today on here or on the phone.....lol

Yes I am LOL with this name change. I think OzawkieKsBantams could be Ozawkiedinkybirds, Or KSdinkybirds. I have a few great advertising slogans too. I am sure I will be working this for some time yet!
CarolAnn It was in reference to a war when the American people steped up to help correct food shortages in our country. I think it also saved metal for war planes and bombs. In any case I agree with you. Some people have totally insulted me when I give them eggs. I dont tell them about it I just dont give them more eggs. I have found that networking helps to sell more eggs however. Some times a free dozen eggs lets them know you have eggs and they will ask for a supply. In the end you can write off your charitable contrubutions. If you work in an office people there might be willing to buy eggs as you can bring them to work. I have already lined up a food bank in the area for spring when all my hens are doing it in the nest box. I gave eggs to a neighbors daughter who is struggling and the parents wont help because they have to have a million before they can retire. I have another friend in my neighborhood who is loosing his house so I cook them dinner several times a week and supply them in eggs. Some times these people frustrate me as they seem unwilling to utalize the free eggs to save money on the food bill, even with I suggest ways to cook them. Oh well I am rambling and there is more to read on this thread!

I share my eggs with my family - and they love em! My mom has always been my friend and helped me - so I feel good that I can give a little bit back to her.

I am anxious for next year when I have more girls and will have enough to really share : ) Lots of people bugging me now... lol

I only get about a dozen a week ... funny thing is - I never used to eat eggs for breakfast. I even used to go to Mcds - order sandwiches and specify that they be without eggs on em...

Now I eat an english muffin or bagel with an egg on it every day... And cool thing is that It seems to be helping me lose weight. I think it's cause those gorgeous big eggs stay with me so I don't snack as much... or else it's the trek out to the coop every day - and all the work I've had to do to fix it up.

Now as soon as I get rid of the LB rooster (lil b*) - my flock will be good. I have learned my lesson = never name them. I just can't butcher him myself. He's a banty sized - so don't know how much good meat will come off of him. Anybody know anyone who wants a cheap chicken nugget meal?

Nice name change Daren. Since you have Ozawkie in the name, I should be able to remember who you are!

As to the egg discussion, we both sell and give ours away. My youngest son is quite a salesman and has a regular route every week to deliver eggs. Most people appreciate them whether they are getting them for free or paying for them.
CarolAnn, I agree with your frustrations. Some of my family has been the most irritating with their comments and not using the eggs that have been given to them. So I stopped. I know how superior backyard flock eggs are to the grocery store, but when grocery store eggs are all people have known and when they are not open to learning about something new, you gotta just not worry about them. I also have a sister-in-law who is ubber-paranoid about the freshness of her food and foodbourne illnesses. Funny thing is - she would rather have store eggs than ones I picked up that day. Oh well!

On to a more fun note, we filled the run with a few wheel barrels of leaves! Instant entertainment for the guys and gals!

My neighbor likes to remove his leaves, and is willing to dump them in my chicken run. Most winters we have 3 feet of leaves. At first the ducks are up to their neck but soon have them packed down. My chickens have scratching material until about March. Thats when the garden gets great composte.
Chickens are hurry up composters with their continous scratching.

Hi all,
I was sent over here by Prairie Pearls to hopefully meet up with some of the folks in Wichita. Can't come to the meeting this Friday as I have to work but keep me posted and hopefully I can make it to the next one!

Thats my goal...lol
the Bantams part is with this joke is that i look at Mikes place and i see the number of birds he has with full size girls VS my small place i can have the same number of birds if not more due to their size.... Kind of an advantage if ya think about it. I have 43 birds on a 76ft x 43ft lot, Mikes run is about the same size an he has like 20 birds. So dinky is better
