John Blehm's Ameraucanas are stunning- I have a couple of Black roos over a project right now, and the hens are wonderful- gone to another project!

I'm very eager to see how my chicks will turn out. I know the lavenders are still in the project stage, but from what I've seen I think they are looking pretty good, and I love the color. His blacks are good across the board, and he rates his silvers as having the best egg color. I placed the order back in Nov. or Dec. It's been a long wait, but I'm glad I did. I've heard he is sold out (at least of the lavenders) for the year.

Yes I placed an order for Lavenders last February and I'm still waiting on them a year later. His fertility was poor very early into the season, so he had to put a bunch of us off, which will naturally limit how many orders he can fill this year. I'm still waiting on an ETA for those I ordered 2/11/10, but it's worth the wait, if you ask me...plus I have a project that will make it sooooooooooo worthwhile!!

I think his bevereges had him confused, I know i had to have another beer when I read that. ..............Lmao

While I confuse people some times Its more of an explanation of ecological impact here. If you dump an animal on an already crowded habitat you creat stress, either by shorting everyone already there of their food or you bring in disease. Some animals already avoid humans and live stock. When food is short due to overpopulation from dumping both the dumped animal and the current residents may have to resort to livestock. Its been absolutly proven in coyotes. If you kill all coyotes then the new ones moving in will eat your livestock. If you kill just the effecting animal; those that know to avoid you will continue and teach their offspring to avoid you as well. In regard to raccoons: there is no shortage of them anywhere and mankinds activities greatly increase their populations. They cause me the most trouble. I kill them all any time I can get them. Some times I have compassion for the other two oposums and skunks. Some times I just let them alone, some times I just shoot them, and some times I just get tired of the killing and take an opossum or skunk down by the river. (lots of flood plane) I had a 4' black snake in the coop last spring and a good part of the summer. I just kept the eggs picked up and dont feel I lost any to him. I am sure he was working the mice. To be clear I am apposed to any relocation of any raccoon for any reason.

OK...I think we're on the same page. I know it's not possible to get rid of them all....others will just move in to take their place. I don't shoot them unless they keep stinkin the place up or they get into my pens.

For me, varmints are kind of like wildflowers. They are great until they get in the wrong place such as your flower or vegetable garden or your crops. At that point they are weeds and are eliminated.

As long as they stay in the woods they will get along just fine with me. I catch them in my chicken coop or barn and they quickly become history.

Do you have some pictures of the welsummer's

I currently dont even own a digital camera. However I will see if I can get my neighbor to take a picture of the birds and the eggs. This however may take a few days. I will do what I can to properly represent my awesome birds however the eggs or chicks are free to good homes.

Kathy and Ivy we I think are on the same page. For example its almost always fatal for them to enter my garden and or coop. Hey I may be having venison in June if those dog-on deer come back for my cuccumbers this year! Prevention/ tolerance first---- shot gun or rifle second!
I will have to tell you all about my Turkey vulture feeding station some day soon. The menu is cat coon dog opossum etc

I have to comment on this . please excuse me for what I am about to say .
I think you are going overboard by shooting a deer while out of season over a dam cucumber that is just ridiculous ,not to mention if its a doe it most likely will be nursing a fawn or have a fawn nearby. I am quite sure that the KDWP would love to hear those words . Mr. Eubanks why did you illegally shoot that deer? you UUUUMMMMMM it was eating my cucumber. Game warden well looks like we will be taking all your guns and maybe alot more .
Sorry that comment Mike Pisses me off. predator over live stock I see deer over cucumber NO !

You're not the first one to do it either.....I had a grandmother I was not overly fond of that insisted on calling me Kathy not Katy no matter how often I told her that was not my name.
