Its cool I'll work with 40 days just to be safe till I get the right answer. I know that I have heard tell that its a month before eggs hit the market shelf so if that's true 40 days is less then the real life time.

Wow thank you, That's a lot to read through. I like the motherearth web site I have gotten many facts from them in the past. Glad you remembered that was out there.

I don't actually! It's one of the things I've not tried yet. I have hatched some for someone, and they were like popcorn and ran around at a million miles an hour. That's as far as my experience goes!

And I agree that eggs are good for at least 45 days if clean and refrigerated. I have had them dirty and a month old and they're still delicious!

Alright Kansas folks make room for me in your fine state. I'll be making my 3 hour drive over to Yates Center for the big auction this weekend. If any of you make it over there come and say hey.

Sorry I have not replied in a timely fashion, I have been pushing snow all night.

I have over 100 Quail eggs in the bators as I type...3 dozen coturnix, the rest are Butler bobs. Its a staggered hatch with the 1st 21 butlers due to lock down this afternoon.

Sorry to hear about your hatching woes there Daren. By mid week I will have my 3rd bator running and will gladly help you out. I love hatch'in fuzzy butts. Its even better when someone else wants to take them home and brood them....Bill

How much snow did you all get?

Up here, we got about 5 inches but the DRIFTS!!! Had to work and coming home we were in a bad band of heavy stuff, no 4 wheel drive either. Lucky to get home, snow 6 inches deep in places and couldnt see the road. Scary!

Had to go check my new peas out, they look cold, poor things. The littlest guy I wrapped in my coat and went ahead and brought him in.

Oh and Renee, here I have been carrying on about Splash and the silly guy gave me the "evil eye" yesterday when I wore my boots out there. He was right next to my leg, and I could tell he WANTED to try and attack those boots but he didnt quite dare. sigh...Guess its good he is protective of his ladies, but what is it with me and these roosters. Just too nice?

Duck were mad, I only have two but the lil squawkers sure can quack when they want something.

Saw a CL ad for some pygmy does, 10 months old for only $30 apiece. Sure am tempted... someone stop me please!
