Consolidated Kansas

Is anyone dying for eggs right now? I have just about anything in my stock available in extra eggs that I have not advertised to sell- They're 10 days old at the oldest, up to today's eggs. I need to hand them over or buy an incubator...or three...

Holla!

Dang, I wish you'd have made this offer about a month ago, my neighbor is a teacher in Lawrence and did a school hatch, I gave her four eggs outta the layer house and four outta the Rock house, I know you have good stock, oh well maybe next time. I will ask my neighbor if they are looking for something anyways though. Can you tell me what eggs you've got extras of??

While I'm here maybe ya'll can help me. I've got an older black sex link hen who's moving a lil' slow at the moment. She is alert and sharp, but mostly standing around, I can catch her anytime I like. I've tried a hot bath already but she hasn't changed. It seems like her abdomen may be swollen but it's plenty soft to the touch, anyone got some advice? For your information I won't be taking her to a vet, but I will do whatever I can to help her if it's low cost, I just can't give up on any of my birds without trying to help them some.

Nothing I know about, sure someone here does though... have you tried posting in the illnesses/treatment forum?

Guineas? Oh, I love those goofy birds.

I had a bunch when I lived back at Solomon, but it got so I was feeding one a day to the bobcats, so I sold them.

Since moving to Hiawatha, we've got the great pyrenees dogs, so I can let some of my birds free range again. I bought 4 guineas at a swap meet. I "thought" I had 3 hens and one cock.

The one I was SURE was a cock turned out to be a hen, just older. The ones I thought were hens turned out to just be younger, and I'm pretty sure now that one of them is a hen and 2 "might" be cocks.

I've got some eggs in the bator right now, but they've got about 3 weeks to go yet. I hope I get a good hatch. I've heard if you get older birds like I did that they often don't stick around, so I want to raise the young ones to let them free range. With the number of wild turkeys I have around here I'm sure the older birds would take off.

It seems since I got these 4 guineas that we have been seeing a lot more pheasants in the yard, and hearing them all around. I know the guineas called in some turkeys. I suppose the turkeys were just curious as to what that bird was that was making all the racket. Do you think the guineas might be doing the same thing with the pheasants?

Let me know if you want to part with any of those keets. I gotta get some guineas in the garden ASAP. (Which still won't all that soon, I know...)
