Hello all. I am a new member and ordered some pullets from McMurray. Does anyone know where I could find some young bantam pullets between Wichita and Hutchinson. I hope it is Ok to post this on this thread. This is a great site and I am glad to say that I am finally a member! Thanks!

Hello and welcome.
Besides Orscheln and Tractor Supply there is Chisholm Trail behind the Newton Outlet Mall off N. Broadway. They have a small but nice clean selection. They do not dictate your amount you purchase either. Also Atwoods in Park City doesn't have a minimum purchase. I was in there last week and they had adorable bantams of many types. Not that I have been chick crazy this year or anything ...eh hum. Good luck!

IDK? I'm pretty new to chicken life myself. I've done a lot of research though and I'd be super thoughtful of chicken cooties of many varieties. If I got a juvenile or adult I would make sure I knew and trusted my source well. I still would keep them in quarantine though.

Yes, often you can find grown bantams on Craigslist. Also, they are often available at swap meets. Be very careful about buying grown chickens at swap meets. As someone else said, it is easy to pick up a sick chicken at a swap meet. However, if you are careful it is possible to get some really nice birds that way. I've had good luck going to swap meets, and have picked up some super nice chickens that way as well as sold many that way. Look for ones that are in very good feather, not too crowded and clean. If you look at it and it doesn't look perky and healthy, don't buy it. Just be sure you quarantine any new ones you might get for at least a month.

You might do a search of Craigslist in your area for swap meets. They often advertise there, or they have them on weekends at many of the feed stores.

Good luck and welcome!
