Consolidated Kansas

I don't mean to be a big pain about this but I've been doing a lot of calling around about DE this morning and now into the afternoon. I hate this sort of thing!! Grrr Has anyone out there used the Natural-Guard brand of DE? They sell it in Lawrence and Osage City. Perma Guard looks like the best quality but looks like they only sell online. I couldn't get thru to the place listed earlier by one of you, got a message the phone number was not in use. I'm getting a tension headache from all this calling.

If it was my msg I know the 1-620-964-2423 number works since I just called Arnolds and they answered it, whoops thought I would be getting a recording- but the main number is still listed as 1-620-964-2463. If you are headed to Topeka its straight up 75 hwy north right in front of Forbes field on SW University Blvd-their website is haycow.com and has the map right on it

It was the # to the place in Topeka that didn't work for me. I'll take a look at the haycow.com addy you gave, thanks! I called Arnold's yesterday and woman I talked to was so nice, and she even called me back after their rep came by so she could ask him MY questions. He was still there when she called me back and she got him on the phone to talk to me. I don't believe they had what I wanted. Stromgren Greenhouse in Osage City carries Natural Guard which is 90% DE and 10% other. I was thinking I'd that it should be 97-98% DE but now I am confused. Perma Guard had the original patent but after x number of years others are able to produce this product. I'd go for the Perma Guard if it could be had without paying as much for the shipping as for the DE. Ever get something in your craw and can't let it go? That's what I seem to be doing with this. It's coming up time to clean out my chicken house and I'd really like to put DE down in the new bedding.

Premier has it in stock, I just called. They are in south topeka just south of the Tractor Supply on south Topeka and west a little bit. If you call them, they will tell you exactly how to get there, it is off the beaten path.

they have the good Perma Gard stuff for $30 for #50.

Ahh thank you!!!! I was afraid the Perma Guard brand might only be sold thru their website. That's what I want. Now I just have to decide whether I'll go to Topeka tomorrow or Thursday. I think that's around 70 miles for me one way. If it rains tomorrow I can't mow but I can take a ride. I'll give them a call in the morning to make sure I know where they are. Thanks again!!

Hi Kansas Chicken people!!
lol.png
I live in Roeland Park and we are trying to get hens legalized there. I think we are getting close. Check us out at City Hens In Roeland Park. I would love to meet any of you that are close. Also, if you have some good pics of your coops, could you please email them to me so we could use them ( with no names or addresses ) in a presentation for next Monday. Sorry it's such short notice, they just sprung this new "concern" on me last night. Thanks in advance and I sure hope to meet some of you all some day.

I thought I'd already posted this here but don't see it (maybe another thread) so i"ll do it again. Thank you to the one who hooked me up to the DE source in Topeka. On our way home from Atchison yesterday we made a jog over Topeka way and I got 50# of Perma Guard food grade DE for $30.08 with tax. Thank to the one who put me onto this source. 50# didn't sound like soo much until I got home and opened the bag. Geesh, this ought to last a while. lol It's fine ground like flour, probably why they call it shell fossil flour duh! Anyhow I'll be using it when I muck out my hen house today or tomorrow and I added 1 tsp to my protein shake this morning.

Thanks again for the assist! I appreciate it!

No problem. I had a heck of a time finding the stuff back in July. I just kept calling until someone knew what I was talking about.

I bought a large dogfood (watertight/air sort-of-tight) at Orschlen's last weekend to put it in (the bag was leaking powder), it it only held about 2/3 of it. 50# is a bunch, isn't it?
