Consolidated Kansas

Heck, I know I posted about this on one of the threads but I'm going to do it again rathe than read back thru everything here.

The Orscheln in Ottawa has the same 3 gal heated poultry waterer that I found when I did a search for them the other day. They cost $35 or $36. Has just a short cord so you'd need a heavy extension cord to reach your outlet. Works on a thermostat so it'll only come on when it gets to a certain low. Sounds like the one for me. Look around at your farm stores and hopefully they'll start stocking them. They must have just gotten these in recently. Hubby doesn't think I'll need it but I think I do. I'm doing the chores. This morning as I was filling a water bucket to refresh all my chickens waters it occurred to me that the outside hydrant will be shut off once it starts to get very cold so all their water will be coming from the house. Yes, I will NEED a heated waterer inside the coop.

I like the idea of the heater coming on only @ a low temp .. I'll have to look for it. Thanks !

I have been trying to purchase one of those "thermocube" outlet adapters - that only comes on when it gets close to freezing - but can't find it anywhere in Wichita. TSC has it on their website but it's not at the West store. Has anyone seen it? I worry about the temperature dropping when I am at work or sleeping and not realizing it. I plan to put a light over their water to keep it from freezing - and to give them a warm spot if needed - but I don't plan on heating the whole coop. I found them on ebay - but the shipping is more than the outlet!

Don't forget the ceramic outlet adapters that come on only when the temps drop to a certain degree- 35F, I think.

Orscheln in Lawrence has them for $30 for a double outlet. It looks like a 3 prong adapter, but it works to help with cold chores!

Orscheln's here has the Thermocubes. You might call them. I know there's an Orscheln's in ElDorado.

We have a maple leaf festival here in Hiawatha this weekend (Oct. 2 & 3) We have beautiful maples here, too. I think it is a little early this year so the maples won't be in the full fall glory.

Hello All,
