Consolidated Kansas

I'll bet Tweety's too busy playing with her new chicks to write about them.

Wow, it's warm and windy out. I opened the barn doors and feathers started blowing around. I guess that's one way to clean the feathers out of the barn! I shut the light out on the biggest chicks I have left that I'm saving for Checoukan. The rest that I have in the basement are going out to the divided brooder that I built out of a bookcase. They will only need a 100 watt bulb. Then I can clean my "chick bins" and have them ready for the next ones that are due to hatch tomorrow.

Eggs in the incubator are starting to dwindle since I haven't been setting any more, other than the bantam partridge wyandottes I just got. I'm SO excited to hatch them. Sometimes 3 weeks seems like an eternity.

DH is sleeping right now. He worked all night and I had the night off. I don't know how he can sleep. His parrot is in there talking and whistling and carrying on, and the pup and my son's dog are playing and wrestling and jumping around at each other. I think my DH could sleep through a war!

LOL!! You guys are funny. Yup, I was busy watching the new chicken TV :) They all arrived just fine! I'm downloading pics right now from the camera, so give me about 10 minutes and I'll have them up here! (maybe a video too!)

Video of the new chicks:
Pearl (Delaware) is the one that doesn't ever stop chirping. Ever. She sleep and chirps, Eats and chirps, Drinks and chirps. LOL

I don't normally past a lot about my family but I would appreciate some prayers for my son. He has been found to have a rare condition with his knee cap called Patella Alta. Basically, his knee cap formed to high up on his knee, which is causing his knee to dislocate about every other day. The doctor said he is having problems with it because he is gaining weight as he grows taller so him growing is putting more strain on his knee. It is very painful obviously. I feel terrible having to pop it back in but I can't leave it like that either. I am scared about what kind of treatment we are looking at. He is only 8. As of the last month, his doctor doesn't want him bending his knee more than 30 degrees or running, climbing, or jumping. What kind of life is that for an active 8 yr. old? He is super upset that he can't play baseball. His team has already started practices but he can't play. He may be out for the whole season, which will really break his heart. We see the ortho this Fri. afternoon to see what kind of treatments are available and to see if it is affecting both knees or just the one. Can you guys please pray that it is fixable so that my baby can be a normal active, happy little boy? I am very scared that they won't be able to fix it enough to allow him to play with his friends and do all the active things he wants to do.

Definitely! My DD didn't have the same condition but ultimately the reason she had her knee surgery 3 weeks ago was because her kneecap was dislocated, so this is very fresh in mind for us. She is still in a full leg brace and can't bend past 70 degrees, physio 3x week and daily exercises to do on the days she doesn't have physio. The works. What ortho are you seeing?

TNT-Prayers going out for your son. I know how hard it is to imagine that your child will not be able to do everything you had dreamed for them. I lost a daughter to cancer. She was only 7 when diagnosed, but lived till she was 17. I know how your heart breaks for them, and I know how it is to have to "hurt them" (resetting the knee) in order to make it better. Prayers going up for your young man.

Tweety-You have a really nice set of "Jewels" in your jewel box there!

HEChicken-sure hope your daughter continues to improve. She's young, buy you REALLY have to work to rehab those knees. I've been plagued with knee problems for years and am facing my second total knee replacement (Old sports injuries plus arthritis). Tell her to work hard at that rehab and getting her range of motion back. It hurts but it's SO important!
